I think it's absolutely ludicrous, especially given how widely defined the restricted content is. I also fundamentally disagree with how invasive the checks are when the majority of people are going to be adults. Give kids different SIM cards with restricted internet and parental restrictions on their devices.

Yes some discussion sites and forums for smoking cessation, mental health etc. are now marked as NSFW 18+. Loads of websites have just blocked access to the UK rather than implement ID checks.

It's really not hard to keep an eye on what your kids are doing online and set up some simple safety guardrails. Apple practically force you into it when you set up a phone for a child, and Ron Jr was given a phone etc on the provision that he agreed I could spy on him at any time to keep him safe.

I used to have our wifi router set up to boot off all of spawn's equipment MAC addresses at 9pm. Even if things don't have MAC addresses any more (don't mock me, I honestly don't know) there must be a way.
