Culturally Significant Saturday

Yet another day where I'm spending too much time on the ring road in and out of Manchester. If Mr F doesn't get his operation today and they send him home again I'm going to cut somebody (not Mr F because I'd need lasers for that).

He's having a detached retina operation. Fun.

Mr F had his eye surgery, just got back from picking him up. 2047 hits with a laser, sutures in his eyeball, cauterisation of "something" and a gas bubble. So that's kyboshed my fortnight off work as I have to put drops in his eye four times a day. He can only look at his feet or lie on his front only for the next week, no Playstation either. Plus I have to take him back to the hospital for 10 o'clock tomorrow morning after I've cleaned his eye and put three types of drops in three minutes apart. It was one thing dressing a laparotomy wound for a month but eyeballs proper freak me out 🤬

I used to get eyeballs sent to me in the post in my last job!

Hope Mr F recovers soon - no flying with that gas bubble in either!

There’s some dance music event in Crystal Palace park and the DJ is playing Children by Robert Miles and I don’t know why but this feels like a recession indicator.

If Sunchyme is played, run immediately to the bank to draw money.

I woke up at 3:30 this morning to the sound of dripping, so hopped out of bed to go and tighten the tap on either the bathroom or kitchen sink. Instead I walked into the living room to find a leak coming from the ceiling (I live in a ground floor flat), dripping down the light fixture.

Turns out a rat had eaten through a pipe connected to the washing machine in the flat upstairs! Thank god the neighbours in my building are both early risers and practical, so the guy from upstairs was able to pop to B&Q for parts and do the fix himself.

What's the point of having a cat if there are still going to be rats roaming about! Though I have got a bottle of wine and a box of chocolate out of the situation, by way of apology from the upstairs neighbour.
