Dannii makes triumphant return to acting

10 and Channel 5 today announced the cast of the gripping, new four-part Australian drama series, Imposter, filmed in Melbourne.

The limited series will star Neighbours legend Jackie Woodburne like you’ve never seen her before, alongside British actress and singer, Kym Marsh (Coronation Steet, Waterloo Road) and Dannii Minogue, who returns in her first locally produced television drama in more than three decades.

The stellar cast also includes Offspring alumni Don Hany (The Survivors, Heartbeat) and Jane Harber (In Limbo, The Moodys), with Charlie Clausen (Prosper, Home and Away), Jackson Gallagher (Wentworth, Home and Away), Chi Nguyen (Class of ’07, Fisk), Kabir Singh (Plum, The Tourist) and newcomer, Adeline Williams.

Set in a coastal Victorian town, Imposter centres around a bitter family feud as matriarch Helen refuses to sell her sprawling seaside hotel, despite pressure from her three adult children.

Little do they know, Helen is hiding a secret, a daughter she gave up for adoption decades ago. When Amanda suddenly appears, Helen welcomes her with open arms— but is Amanda who she says she is? The lucrative hotel is the ultimate prize, and a twisted scheme soon spirals into betrayal and ultimately, murder.

Created and executive produced by Jason Herbison (Neighbours, Heat), Imposter isproduced and distributed by Fremantle Australia for 10 and the UK’s Channel 5. The series is directed by Kate Kendall and produced by Andrew Thompson.

Imposter.

Coming Soon To 10.

Are Dannii and Kym playing sisters, then? Looking forward to some horrendous accent work if so!

I’m guessing Kym’s character is the daughter who was adopted and grew up in the UK hence why she’ll have a different accent.

Interesting that Kym is playing a baddie - she’s touring in Single White Female as Hedy (the psycho roommate) next year so she’s definitely going for a new type.

I'm glad that picture is giving CAMP. Hopefully the series follows suit. If Dannii is doing Channel 5 drama I want as ridiculous as possible.

I don't think there's a date been announced? Just the cast and that its been FILMED

In other news, I see yesterday Kym Marsh over the papers with her NEW LOVE after splitting with her 'Soul Mate' - she's had a million soul mates!

*Plays 'Cry' on loop * :disco:

Making the most of the pre-Christmas telly lull. Blink and you miss Dannii in that trailer though.

I've put the first episode on. The wig is such a scene stealer, though it is still more subtle than dear Jackie's performance.

I gather Dannii doesn't turn up until episode 3.

I forgot this had started. May watch the first ep tomorrow :disco:

I lasted approximately 36 minutes of episode one. It appears to consist of Jackie wandering about looking confused or with blurred vision with the occasional outburst in her NI accent and not much else.

I've learned my lesson the hard way with Channel 5 dramas. I'm sure any notable Minogue moments will be online if necessary.

Those endless blurred vision shots :D

You swerved the Kym Marsh SEXY TIME at the end of episode one, featuring prolonged tongue action. I really was not prepared.

Going to watch tonight. What with SINGAL WHITE FEMALE, Queen of the North Kym Ryder Marsh is getting the jobs!

Finished this tonight. Dannii's is a glorified bit part, which was probably a good thing; she didn't have much to do but came out of it better than most. I'm torn as to who was most dreadful but recovering drug addict gay husband is a strong contender.

Jackie's character was so sour that she really deserved endless housecoat wearing misery.
