Good morning. I have annual leave after today for a couple of weeks and good grief I could do with it.

Hello from Japan! I’m having a splendid time. It truly is an amazing place. Have spent a couple of nights in Tokyo, onto Kyoto tomorrow then back to Tokyo for the athletics. Have eaten at wonderfully small, local places, usually by using Google Translate and saying “just choose something for us”, bought loads of records and been entirely amazed how Japan isn’t actually very expensive at all.

Currently in Hakone, in an apartment with its own private onsen and view of the mountains. Utterly splendid.
