RANDOM THINGS YOU HATE (2 Viewers)

I'm organising my teams Christmas do and it's already a DISASTER. I've done a very bog standard, the pub everyone knows down the street from the office affair because:
a) fuck organising an event
b) no-one goes anyway
c) there were DRAMZ last year (when I wasn't there but I heard all about it)
d) we've had a shit year and I assumed the budget would be tiny, if any

Turns out: the budget is massive, but our office will actually be CLOSED FOREVER by then, meaning people will have to get off their arses from home to come, which when there's barely any appetite for it anyway doesn't exactly spell out the recipe for a successful evening.

Organising a Christmas Do is such a short straw job. This is my LAST TIME.
 
I stopped going to the work Christmas do just after COVID. The first one I skipped because I genuinely had a cross booking and it ended up being a super spreader event. They also always do it on or on the Friday of the week of my birthday.

Also all of the fun people stopped going and now it’s just become a dating agency of 20-something temp staff who come and go, organised by the people who do the least actual work. So now it’s just a little get together with 10 people who actually like and respect each other .

Oh it's a bit of a long boring story, but somebody wanted to do a black tie event in LONDON and then fudged the Outlook voting buttons to make it look like the department had all voted for it. She then had a disciplinary for being "dishonest" which she then made a formal complaint about because she was being "discriminated against". :)

They ended up running out of time to organise anything so did a standard pub down the road affair with a ridiculously high budget that we were still whittling away at well into Jan/Feb (no complaints here!)
 
Thanks girls I’ve not booked somewhere for this year yet and now I’m in a PANIC!

I pencilled in somewhere in July but turns out it’s double our budget.

And yes it really is the worst job in the world. Our company also does a SUMMER PARTY, so I have to go through this nonsense twice a year, and I’ve also RUN OUT of local venues that we haven’t already used.
 
Our summer party is company wide where our Christmas party is just the department so I wasn't involved in organising that, but they were so late giving us the details that I'd already lined up the same pub for Christmas as our summer party ended up being. And it was a bit of a BUST, so another great selling point to get my team to come to Christmas yaaay
 
I've put Christmas organising and 'wellbeing' (which is really just party planning) on my list of stuff I'm happy to pass to someone else when we were asked in June, but no doubt everyone else will decline it and I'll still be stuck with it.

I don't even like Christmas much, and hate when everyone assumes you're one of those awful I-want-it-to-be-Christmas-all-year people just because you organise the dinner and send out the Secret Santa emails.

Mortifying.

Just had a flashback to organizing a shindig with a bunch of corporate big-wigs and politicians in which I unthinkingly popped HEAVEN KNOWS I'M MISERABLE NOW on the playlist.
 
Having to get your password EXACTLY right when you enter it. Yes, I know passwords are important, but if you're in the right ballpark then that should be good enough. Does it really matter if I forget that a letter should be capitalised or I miss out an exclamation mark?

The next Saw movie, tentatively titled Saw XI, was set for a September 26, 2025, release, but its production has been stalled since March 2025 due to producer disagreements, and it may even be "totally dead" as a direct sequel to Saw X. These estate agent signs. Why do I need to see a photo of Alex? And why when you're in a profession that surely is only competing with Recruitment for the most hated one in the country are you so happy for your photo to be out there? Or is it that it's a creeping Americanism which makes me hate it more? Either way, his face is haunting me.
