Drag Race UK : Season 7

I felt really positive about it after the entrances as I thought they looked like a pretty strong group, but yes, it fell flat after that.

I was pleased that the Northern Irish one wasn't anywhere near as irritating as her previous compatriots.

That was...not a good episode. Very few of them stood out to me.

Pixie posted an essay in response to that "unlikeable" comment.

This felt like a bit of a downer after the last two series.

Bonnie is the one I want to like but I'm not sure if that's based on anything I actually saw in the episode. The Welsh one is nice too.

Some of the drag was great, which really highlights how boring the pantomime type ensembles are at this point.

I thought it was unfair how one queen said an insult to Plain Jane and got no reaction and all PJ did was repeat the same insult back and had Ru splitting himself in half. Same with the Louis Walsh line, which Michelle did try to react to, but PJ got the Ru being skinned alive screaming.

Quite enjoyed how grubby the humour got, you could tell even Bagga was surprised it was going ahead. It could get old though, but I liked the nerve of it all.

We really should have got 2 opening episodes. Terrible lip sync, and I didn't want to lose either so soon actually.

The guest host? Like we don't see much fitter on grindr. Mediocrity baiting the gays - straight guys really do think we want them all sometimes. The ass flashing at the start was fucking shocking, why not spin around and limp your wrist whilst you're at it?

I almost feel like Nyongbella is the spiritual successor to STARLET, strange affected accent, AFRICAN, zero talent or ability, but undoubtedly strangely ALLURING. Gave absolutely nothing in the lip sync, will be gone next episode, but live on in my heart forever.

I want every bit of production tomfoolery enacted to keep Nyongbella in for as long as possible.

Never has SO LITTLE been so COMPELLING

I thought Nyongbella was great and had loads of PRESENCE. She's entirely alluring and I would argue NOT in the same category as Starlet (who is of course in her OWN category FOREVER UNTIL THE END OF TIME) - she has FAR more personality to her.

That judging was also utterly insane. Bones not top three? Silllexa not bottom with that HIDEOUS gown? Elle Vosque THE WINNER with that utterly CHEAP looking runway?!?

Nonetheless I enjoyed it and think it's quite a promising cast, even if the judging results so far feel like they're pushing likeable but ropey queens over actually polished ones.

And I question @Penelope whether UK drag race should be about prioritising polished queens who so often lack personality when going to a drag bar here is about so much more than someone who looks good.

Not that I agree that Elle should have won, but much rather the Welsh one over Bones :dead:

I get that UK drag is not primarily about the look. But to have only one (1) queen serve a decent/memorable look in the opening runway is somewhat concerning.

Maybe it's just cuz last season was so good this one looks bad in comparison?

She doesn't want to. This is the most attention she's ever received.

Yes, surely this is the most engagement she's had in three years. I don't blame her milking it, but I do wonder how big the market is for Pixie Polite merch regardless.

God I was a bit on her side that it was a shady comment that the editors absolutely shouldn't have left in... But by god, there's such thing as being the BIGGER PERSON love.

This is like when Vinegar Stroke got named as Hodgepodge and instead of working on her aesthetic decided instead to become the "Hodgepodge Queen". No love.

This was a bit flat. The main challenge felt like a mini challenge and really wasn’t the best/a fair way to introduce the queens by having previous queens essentially try to upstage them (in some cases, not all)… but then there also was a lot of wtf moments of why are you saying this soooo who knows, either way. Bad all round.

Here for my Manchester girls Viola and Bonnie and hopefully another good season
