What did you collect as a kid?

And pet mice. Funny story. Pet shop sold me a small wooden cage. Yes you guessed it. Hole in side next day and no mouse!
 
Big Time magazine in the late 90s. I had a mini suitcase full of them.

Pokemon Cards, had them taken off me in Year 8 at school by the head of year who said he'd give them back to me at an undisclosed date. I subsequently forgot about them and he ended up reminding me about them ay the end of year 11. I had little interest in them but wish I'd kept them as apparently they're worth loads now!
 
Also for some reason I collected the wrappers from Penguin bars in a bag and then my mother found the collection and presumably thought they were rubbish (well... she wasn't wrong) and binned them all.
 
When I was primary school age, the younger end of the range, it was marbles. I would hold marbles Olympics regularly in my front hall. East Germany always won.

Every issue came with a free plastic bone and if you collected them all you could build a model T-Rex skeleton.

Hard to overstate the hold this had on me as a 9 year old.
 
Speaking of autism announcements, I collected maps, flags, and globes
 
Stamps, old coins, badges, Beano, World Cup and Smash Hits stickers.

Although I suspect the Panini fetish was fairly widespread.

Stamp collecting has really died. To think the STAMP BUG CLUB visited my Primary School.
 
Early on it was trading cards, especially Pokemon and Yu-Gi-Oh. Although I only played the latter to any competitive level.

Later it became old CDs and random vintage fashion from auction sites.
 
I had a weird friend who collected the stock photos that came in photo frames. He just had stacks of them.

Nothing, really.

Mid 90s I did get mildly obsessed with picking up club flyers from all the trendy clothes shops. It was just as clubs were getting SUPER and the design and branding fascinated me.

Explains plenty.
 
CD's, Wrestling and Football stickers!

Oh I used to keep all my Smash Hit/TOTPs/Music Week magazines too.

My first LP, The Singles 1969-1973, Carpenters. Cassette: Rose Royce - Greatest Hits. CD. - Brothers In Arms - Dire Straits.

And also Simpsons comics, of which I got a good little collection. I found and bought issues 1-4 on eBay and was fumming to find out the seller had DRAWN in them. :oi:

Doctor who stuff mostly - magazines, Target novels, VHSs

But also I collected my handwritten weekly top 40 charts in a box every week for years and years. 😂

I hope I wasn't the only one. They were the greatest thing ever. The feeling you'd get when you'd open the pack and found you had the missing pair :disco:

Did the football stickers for quite a few years. Gremlins cards. Topps and Panini did loads of shite in the 80s, we did them all. By the time Pokemon came out though I was older.

Also the little mini figures I loved. Muscle Men (not what you think) and Monster In My Pocket. The latter were clever, they made it so you didn't just collect the different figures, you had to have one in every colour otherwise your collection wasn't complete :D
 
Yeah I was all about Garbage Pail Kids

I would take a dollar to the corner store, get my Grandma a pack of Benson and Hedges Menthol Ultra Light 100s and I got to keep the quarter left over to get a pack of GPK cards
