Self Esteem - A Complicated Woman

I've only listened once and quietly enjoyed most of it. I must go back to it or it will become one of those albums that slips away.

I was just semi tempted to buy the picture disc as it's apparently limited to only 1000, yet Rough Trade still have about a dozen. Thought better of it though. Streaming it will do.

That's where I am with it. It's definitely good but nothing grabbed me and shook me by the pubes.

I went last week and hard agree. Sadly we didn’t get Moonchild though as she was sick

I've just bought tickets to go with a different friend tonight - just because I need her to see it.

First time I've bought from twickets as it's sold out. Hope it's legit!

Still on a slight comedown from the weekend tbh. Equally fantastic night two. Without doubt one of the best concerts I've ever been to, although calling it a concert feels almost reductive - it felt equally theatrical and almost performance art. I've certainly not felt any concert in the same way since Blond Ambition, if at all.

I missed this Later performance at the time. It's the best individual example of the show as a whole. Although songs like You Forever and Cheers To Me were more typical exuberant and joyous pop concert examples.

I'm going to assume it's the same show I saw her do at The Garrick theatre in London the week of album release which I think I posted about here shortly after. It was phenomenal and yes, was very much a theatrical production. I'm seeing her in Brixton at the weekend so will know for sure then. Glad you enjoyed it!

I believe so - assuming that had older songs and wasn't exclusively new album?

It was certainly an expanded version of her Glastonbury set which annoyingly has left iPlayer. I enjoyed that when I saw it. But seeing it in a concert hall setting compared to the expanse of that stage (never mind the usual 20% of audience shots) was another experience entirely.

I know a few on here seemed disappointed with this album, but seeing her perform it really elevates the material.

I haven't gone back to her recent album really but I can imagine it would come alive seeing her in person.

She released a deluxe version of A Complicated Woman on Friday, although with just three alternative versions, it's nothing really to get too excited about.

I'm already going to see her at Cardiff Castle in the summer. And I really ought to try and see Teeth n' Smiles sometime over the next few months as well.
