used to go as a kid for the buffet which I remember was not very impressive but with all you can eat ice cream machine, and I think Pasta I am thinking good value for families. I can imagine how much they struggle in the world of Pizza Express, Dominoes and Papa Johns these days though.
 
Speaking of which, Wimpy seem to have been on decline since I can remember, closing up and down the country, but have opened a rather large flagship one on BRIGHTON, its advertised everywhere :D
 
I think I've been to a Pizza Hut once in the last thirty years.

Do they exist anywhere other than retail parks now? I don't remember the last time I saw one in a town or city centre.

I don't think I've even seen a Pizza Hut restaurant in a decade

Low-brow it may be, but their Stuffed Crust remains a guilty takeaway pleasure. I do prefer them to the desperately overhyped Domino's.
 
I knew Pizza Hut was still there because it's next to Dunelm and Asda, and my sister-in-law and her family her are always there.

I haven't been in about 20 years. I stopped going after I saw that the garlic bread was just NORMAL BREAD with the garlic sprayed on. It still makes me feel rancid.
 
I went about two months ago when up visiting family, because it was a choice between that or the local Lounge and my niece chose Pizza Hut. We were one of maybe three tables in there on a Sunday evening.

I enjoyed it for what it was, but it would never be my choice. I was shocked at how high the prices were - felt like a similar level or even more expensive than Pizza Express, for lower quality and worse service (either scanning a QR code or going up to a kiosk to order).
 
Franco Manca is easily my favourite pizza chain by some distance. Cheaper than Pizza Express as well.
 
I noted them clearing out the branch on Argyle Street in Glasgow a few weeks ago. If you can't sell pizza to Glaswegians in the middle of town, you must be screwed.
 
These TG Jones shops, or whatever the fuck they're called, really are awful aren't they? Terrible branding, soulless shops with no staff. I don't understand why, if they were going to buy a load of the WHSmith stores, that they weren't able to just buy the brand name for a pound or something and keep it going. The brand is dead anyway, so why not inherit it? Maybe too expensive to continue with all the WH Smith signage. I think this might be the future of the high street - established brands dying out and being taken over by companies that act like Britannia Hotels - keeping venues going at minimal costs and letting them slowly decay while maximising profits.
 
Have they changed anything about the stores other than the signage? I don't think I've noticed anything in the ones I've been in.
 
Everyone’s eating neapolitan style pizzas these days at numerous places around towns and for much cheaper too. Pizza Hut is fine for a dirty takeaway tho.

(Did enjoy their unlimited lunch buffet back in the day)

There is one in the middle of Manchester, next to GAMES WORKSHOP.

I used to work in the warehouse at weekends, they litterally sell tiny bits of plastic for hundreds of pounds. We had to be searched on the way out because you could easily shove a few grands worth of gear in your pocket if you fancied it.

Great subsidised cafe which was handy because I always went in still pissed.

I forgot they were staying. Makes sense.

I went to the one in Southport yesterday to get the nephew some lego, and it was a shell of its former self - no people, no atmosphere, everything just felt beige and neutral and lifeless.

Mind you, I just described Southport as a whole. So they didn't really stand a chance.
 
Oh my, I saw one of those TG Jones stores in Shoreham the other week and just thought it was a knock off WH Smith, I didn't realise they were actually old WH SMITHs. :D
 
I think some of them were already TG Jones... I don't know because we never had any by us as far as I know, but I think they did exist somewhere and in some capacity.
 
I went into our local TG Jones the other day and it was bizarre. The lighting was so dim that I thought it might be closed, and there seemed to be one member of staff covering both floors. This on one of the busiest high streets in Leeds city centre.

It seemed to do decent enough trade when it was still WHSmiths, but I can’t imagine it’ll last much longer in its current form.
 
It existed as a company name, but did they actually have shops anywhere? The one in Shoreham at least was definitely a WHSmith previously.

They wouldn’t even treat you to a nice meal at the CASA? :(
 
I just find it odd that they chose the name (and presumably very similar branding/logo) for familiarity or continuity or whatever, for the part of a business that wasn't making any money and I've only ever recently read people moan or complain about.

Why, when you've got the opportunity of a clean slate and creating something successful, would you so closely imitate a failing business? Is it to purposely run it into the ground?
 
I probably last went to Pizza Hut almost 10 years ago, wasn't a fan though 😅

I have maybe had Domino's Pizza a few times, it's nice but overpriced. Sainsbury's used to do ones made there 😋 but yeah, save money and make it at home, unless you're in Rome (or somewhere in Italy). 🇮🇹
