What's your order at the chippy?

Don’t eat any fish, so rarely go to a chippy. If I have to it’ll be a saveloy. Extra vinegar on everything though and proper drown them in it. I’m not happy unless someone else winces if they nick a chip.
 
Does getting a very occasional cheesey curry chip on the way home after a night out at 2am count?
 
We used to go every week when were settling the little'un in as that's what he did every Friday, but they've slowly phased out. Love a nice chippy tea though. :disco:

At 37 years of age I still haven't decided if I'm a cod or haddock man and will flit between the two. I think cod edges it.

I also like a chicken pie but find them not filling and insubstantial. I take the fancy for that doughy gravy soaked crust sometimes though :disco:

The one near me does a banging hangover friendly quarter pounder as well. Crispy lettuce, onion, tomato in it so you're getting some of your five a day, and a good proper burger.

SOMETIMES curry sauce and SOMETIMES a pickled egg (but my local doesn't do them :(), and ALWAYS a fat gherkin.
 
The last time I went to a chippy was in 2021 at uni, cod and chips. 😋 Also some place near Bournemouth beach the year after, same but mushy peas too. Ideally I'd get scampi or calamari (just like popcorn chicken at KFC) but I'm not the one who does the ordering, plus they're expensive, and it's nearly always a family meal.

Exactly the same. I can give or take mushy peas sometimes.
Second choice would be COD chips and curry sauce. Lots of salt and a little bit of onion vinegar on the chips. I used to like them drowning in Vinegar but with the curry sauce the palate has CHANGED.

Oh and a PICKLED ONION.

I don’t ever eat in a chippy, I can’t remember the last time I did. Forever ago. I just generally find it too greasy.

When I did, had to have all the sides though- curry sauce, pickled egg, mushy peas…
 
Where is the TARTAR SAUCE please?

When I was growing up I don’t remember there being any curry sauce in any of the chippies around me (of which there were very few, mind). In fact I always thought it was more of a northern thing and that we didn’t really do it down sarf.

Anyway I used to enjoy a battered sausage until I was old enough to know better. Aside from that all the regulars -cod, haddock, plaice, chips, mushy peas, aforementioned tartar but never a pickled egg and SCRAPS.
 
As a side note - has anyone tried the plant based battered sausages from Aldi? I can never seem to find them.
 
Chicken fillet burger with salad, cheese, and mayo with chips (loads of salt and vinegar) and gravy.

I'm hungry now.
 
I never get fish and chips anymore, I do like it but much prefer chinese or Indian. This has made me want it.

And I’m sorry, but I won’t ever understand you lots obsession with vinegar and mushy peas. Vile.
 
It's probably been near (if not over) 2 decades, but if it were a standard meal at home I'd get a battered haggis (I absolutely love haggis and brown sauce). I'm just not that keen on chips, so they'd need to be good. After a night out would mean all bets are off and I'd want it drowning in chip shop sauce (think brown sauce with vinegar added), but I'm rather restrained these days and usually my urge after a night out is to go get some cock not cod in all honesty. Fish in batter or crispy breadcrumbs is better with tomato ketchup though. And lots of lemon. Love mashing up fish fingers in ketchup. Having decided today I'd be skipping carbs, I'm now suddenly wanting to buy some fancy oven chips and vinegar.

I've not much to say on the subject..
 
Quite partial to ROCK but any fish will do really, or scampi. Chips should be a good mixture of crispy and soggy, with an absolute fuckton of vinegar.
 
Cod and chips with scraps.
I YEARN for a Saveloy but they aren't a thing in Yorkshire.
I do indulge in a good HOT PINK SAUSAGE when I venture down south though.
 
Are saveloys a thing here? I swear I never have seen them (or cheerios) at the supermarket, but that may be a London thing. Or I don’t know where to look.

The only place I've seen them outside of a chippy is occasionally in B&M and Farmfoods in the fridges.

They have only ever really been a chip shop thing really!
