Natalie Imbruglia - Algorithm (Album #7) (2 Viewers)

I find it quite sad surprising that she has to resort to this. Does she not get enough income from royalties and the many festival gigs she plays?

What is "enough"?

Taylor Swift is a BILLIONAIRE and puts out millions of varieties of her albums because people will pay for them.

Can't Nat change a tenner a month for what's basically an old school fan club?

I don't think it's sad but I do wonder how many people will sign up if even I'm not tempted

It’s mostly artists with very niche fanbases who don’t trouble the charts who I’ve seen do these Patreon kind of things and who can blame them when they make nothing from streaming. I’m not interested in them, maybe over lockdown I would have considered it but I don’t think it’s sad at all for anyone to be trying to generate some income.

There's a difference between putting out many variants and setting up a Patreon.

It’s usually only struggling artists who charge their fans monthly for content they would otherwise get for free.

Anyway I don't think it's sad, but I can't really imagine what she's offering that would tempt me to subscribe for a regular payment.

If she needs crowdfunding to get a new album off the ground she'd be better off just saying that. I'd be much more tempted to throw her a tenner on that if there was a defined end goal I was supporting, rather than the vague sense that I might be helping her justify splashing out on some lovely shoes.

She may be loaded , she may not be but it’s not sad to generate income. You don’t know what her royalty cuts were or how much was paid back for advances from the record company. She might have invested her money wisely or blew it on silly decisions. As a parent maybe she wants as much in the kitty for her kid in the future too as is possible. It’s a silly thing to criticise someone for.

Yeah I'm trying to think of a commercial artist who doesn't try to make an income but I'm struggling. Even the DEAD ONES rerelease old albums countless times!
Bob Marley himself didn't try to be money-making when he was alive, but his descendants are quite the opposite, hence the last bit + extra merchandise 😅

Anyway about Imbruglia, I don't think I'd sign up for £10 a month, but one-off things I'd support. ♡ I did buy two of her albums this year (and my sister got me a copy of Left Of The Middle with the alternative cover, which I now have 2 copies of :D)

You'd assume her % cut of the Torn royalties wouldn't be huge with it being a cover. Her streaming numbers for the rest of her catalogue aren't hugely impressive, so unless she saved very sensibly back in the day, she will be almost solely reliant on touring income. And even there, she's mostly doing one-off festivals or being a support act, so we won't be talking millions.

If only POOR NAT had taken some of crazychris's money saving tips. Instead her weekly eight person octopus soirees have left her begging.

And as for all those FILLET O FISH she ordered, when she could have made her own.

I imagine that she also makes good money from performing at private/corporate gigs which can easily pay 100k for a smaller artist with an iconic hit. I've read about Nat playing those before, and even one of those in a year gives you a decent "salary" and probably a much bigger income than any touring she'd do.

I'd be happier if my favourite acts didn't do it, but the market has changed so much and not in the vast majority of acts' favour.

If she gets a decent number of people to bite it's a decent revenue stream for I'd imagine a fairly small amount of work.

To be honest, if the likes of myself, Iguana and Alex aren't biting, I do kind of wonder if anybody will. :D

I wonder what would Moopy judge more?

£10 Patreons vs performing for evil Jeff Bezos or Dubai millionaires?

If Lily Allen can have an OnlyFans for her feet, then Nat can do this

December offer - She sings 'Counting Down the Days' opening a Home Bargains advent calendar and then will eat the chocolate in a seductive manner. Tenner for the privilege.

Send £10 this Christmas and you could feed Natalie Imbruglia for a day.

Send £20 and you provide her with a rod to fish with.

Send £30 and you could teach how to make her own rod.

How did you quote Iguana 🦎 as me? Are you a sorcerer @disneyteletubby ? 🤔
