Intense Consumerism Friday

Stayed up til 1am dealing with an ENTIRELY THEIR FAULT client disaster and got up at 5 to deal with ANOTHER ONE FROM THE SAME CLIENT.

Fuming. Today is gonna be fun.

Ive not long woken up, Ron Jr is off so no alarms needed. Feels like that was the snooze I’ve needed all week.

B-52's just announced a date in Manchester next year.....

I am no longer equipped for a 'normal' gig on a weeknight. I got in a little after 11 because I'm about 10/15 mins walk from the Hydro but I was just buzzing and it took me until after midnight to drop off, then my alarm went off at 5.40am. 🙃

I saw them at a festival a few years back and it was marvellous!

Round 3030303 of why is the NHS so shit?

Have had stomach pains in my lower right stomach and groin for over a fortnight now. Put an e-consult in with my GP on Tuesday, was told “you’ll have to see the doctor and no appointments available yet, we’ll call you”. Asked if I should go to walk-in and told the doctor wanted to see me.

Phoned today to chase. “Oh, still no appointments, but that sounds serious, go to the walk in centre”.

FUCK ME.

That FAREWELL tour into its FOURTH YEAR THEN

Just went on a rare Facebook outing to look at something Saint Etienne related and the first post was an individual's profile that I don't follow and have no mutuals with and a post with "CONGRATULATIONS XXX ON WINNING RUPAUL'S DRAG RACE UK", which I'm watching tonight.

I really should delete it at this point.

Really didn't want to be getting VERY ANGRY at other people's incompetence today.

I said EXACTLY the same.

See the above and the fact I've taken a Rega record player into a Rega dealer OVER A WEEK AGO and the dealer has said Rega will do it free of charge but they want to charge £30 each way...FOR A BOX. Not delivery. FOR A BOX. Because I don't have the actual box itself anymore.

"Why is it £30 for a box?"
"Cause you don't have the actual box?"
"And why is it each way?"
"Cause you need a box each way"
"Can't they just reuse the box from the first one?"
"Oh yeah...I suppose so. Ok, so it's £30"
"Can't I just use another box and some bubble wrap?"
"Well, I suppose so, but you'd have to bring your own box in"
"Well, can you use a box you have out the back"
"Well, I guess, but if it gets damaged, we can't be held responsible"
"But surely you send it tracked delivery/ courier which has insurance"
"Well yes, of course"

ERM....

If anyone in my message groups dares to text about their new half price air fryer I will be deleting WhatsApp today :)

Fuck me how are some people alive.

I’m one of FOUR people at work today so I’ve managed to clean my office, shop for watch bands and eat some pretzels.

Some fecking dolt of a woman ran out of petrol at the bottom of the slip road off the dual-carriageway and blocked it. Granted there's a petrol station ten minutes' walk up the slip road but she'd just dumped her car, not even attempted to pull it to the side so other cars could get past. There was a lot of horn-honking, cheering and jeering when we saw her walking back down the grass verge with a petrol can, not ashamed to say I joined in.

The National Lottery app just pinged me a notification alerting me to their BLACK FRIDAY DEALS.

The LOTTERY!

Countered my mornings stress by eating food at the christmas markets, drinking 4 pints of Murphys and carrying a tree up 5 floors of stairs. Merry Christmas slags!

After an 8 hour shift in the shop today, Black Friday can FUCK RIGHT OFF.
I expected Manchester to be HELL and had to be dragged out, but it wasnt bad at all. That said solidarity with anyone who has to deal with the masses, I’d hate to work in retail at this time of year.

I actually quite fancy working in retail for a bit.

A friend has just left her job and got a Christmas position at Waterstones and is loving every minute, though she’s such a bookworm, the 50% off discount means she’s literally spending all her wages there…

It has been for the most part fun & a great laugh. Yesterday just seemed to go on forever & DID NOT STOP.

Sorry but working in Woolies is still the best job I ever had and working at Christmas was amazing… it really reinforced the energy of the Christmas rush, even from the commercial angle, but I suppose it helped that I was working on the entertainment counter most of the time !
