¡Hola!

Someone once posted a link to a very cheap train ticket website but I can’t remember who, the search function isn’t helping and neither is google.

I’ve already fingered @Sheena (but enough about that). Next in line is possibly @funky

Ring any bells anyone?

Seatfrog is just good for upgrades though, isn't it? You can book standard fares there as well, but I've never seen it cheaper than trainline or anywhere else.

And it seems seatfrog has become too popular for real bargains now. I looked the other week when we went to Reading, and it would have worked out no cheaper than buying first class tickets in the first place.

I've had some light discounts with the TrainPal app. The prices seem to be about the same as trainline, but if you Google trainpal discount codes you can often get 5 or 10% codes.

@jyxz if it's for Avanti they do a special deal which acts like a lottery - you pick a day and a morning/afternoon/evening slot and it allocates you a seat on a train of their choosing within that timeframe. You don't get to pick your exact train but the tickets are much cheaper. You can only book within 30 days of travel and not 5 days before. Not sure if it was that, I might have mentioned that one before. But I can't remember what the site is called :D I think it's still Avanti-affiliated. I only use Avanti directly now - I'm silver now cos I travel to London so much.

Yes - this sounds exactly what I was thinking of. Choosing the period of travel but not the exact time.
