MELODIFESTIVALEN 2026 GOSSIP OCH BITCHING THREAD

A lot to look forward to in there, and quite a lot of new names / welcome old names who haven't been in for a while back too.

Same heat as A*Teens and Grezcula though :(

Are these the running orders? Or will they come closer to the time?

They're usually announced in perf order no?

And yeah, unfortunate, but I believe in OUR JACQ

Yes, someone (usually me :basil:) makes this mistake every year - they've been announced in alphabetical order

Initial odds from Unibet. Reminder that KAJ were dead last here last year.

I don't understand why people are doubting Sanna so much. She will be accessible and relatable to ALL age groups

3-9 - 'that lovely woman looks like my mummy'
10-15 - 'I love this chord progression, it sounds like a day out!'
16-29 - 'look how mode and sexy this woman is - she is the peak of cutting-edge fashion! Her brown hair reminds me of Billie Eilish'
30-44 - 'we have grown up with Sanna - she is the voice of a generation'
45+ - 'she is the daughter I never had'
Telephone - 'I am picking up the telephone to vote for the patron saint of Sweden and our national treasure'

With G:son at the helm she will undo ALL of our sads! You WILL vote for this!

Also god love Robin carrying on with his occasional vein (and the grand Melfest tradition) of consciously emulating ABBA song titles :disco:

I really should collate all my ill-researched and hyperbolic descriptions of Swedish Melfest regulars into some kind of document.

Sanna Nielsen - THE VOICE OF A GENERATION
Jessica Andersson - A SWEDISH NATIONAL TREASURE
Anna Book - THE SWEDISH J.LO
Kikki Danielsson - THE SWEDISH AMY WINEHOUSE
Anna Bergendahl - SWEDEN'S MOST HATED WOMAN

etc.

Also I'd ordinarily have no time for the intermittent comedy botherer of the year, but that one in heat 5 having Edward af Sillén on lyric writing duties is potentially promising for something actually funny.

I feel for the sound engineer that’s going to have rifle through their saved mic volume presets for Army of Lovers’ ‘Rockin’ The Ride’ so they can use it again for A*Teens.

Screaming, crying and dying!

Also Robert Skowronski who cowrote Bara bada bastu seems to have his hands over a few of this year's entries.

I agree this line up looks potentially rather good.

However, FUMING that Lili och Sussie have been SHUNNED YET AGAIN. Do 40 years of glorious, ridiculous pop count FOR NOTHING?

Infact, the Brandsta City Slackers song seems to have inherited pretty much the whole Bara Bada Bastu team, bar KAJ themselves.

TEASERS

Meira Omar’s song is bigger than Hush Hush in the sense that it will contain much more choreography and FIRE

Patrik Jean’s song is uptempo and he thinks you can go clubbing to it

Arwin’s song is also uptempo - it’s about the state of the world right now and he thinks it’s best listened to before you go out. He doesn’t know how to dance but he will try.

Robin Bengtsson is country-pop

A*Teens have a winning song

AleXa is extremely clubby K-pop :disco: @zengiraffe

Blade/Isa is uptempo
