I loved it at the time but it flopped ib the UK. I don't understand why it did. The video & the song title got so much attention.

I think it's one of my favourites - although it took me ages at the time before I clicked what she was saying!

This was the times though where she wasn’t well enough to do any kind of promotion outside of the album release week, which hurt her badly outside the US and Canada where the other big names of the time were much more visible. Airplay managed to save her in the former two places, but not so much for UK/Europe/Australasia.

Songs a bop, though don’t need to hear it all that often these days.

I actually thought by Womaniser she was much better. She was doing way more promo than she did for Blackout which she could barely make video for. She got 2 #2's from that on the back of just a record label promotional campaign.

Flop. It's always really annoyed me because it's not a great double entendre. The lady in the video is right! "All of the girls and all of the boys are begging to if you seek Amy" doesn't make any sense, does it?

They played a masterclass with the Circus era in presenting it as a comeback (despite being about 6 months since she was taken away in an ambulance etc) and doing what they could with videos, radio and all that. But ultimately the public were only ever going to bore of that and demand more when you have the like of Pink, Gaga and Beyoncé doing world class performances and the like (see the Womanizer performance on X Factor as a comparison). It was only ever going to be downhill post Gimme More unless she really returned to form and this was probably the start of it in the UK I guess.

Well that’s exactly it, she promoted Womanizer with that high profile X Factor performance and it seemed to do more damage than good. Circus didn’t peak that high but racked up a decent amount of sales through its run. I think they waited too long to release that. Not sure how much Amy did when said and done.

She was a radio darling in the States, which mattered on our chart, up until Work Bitch. Amy made the top ten at pop radio here, but didn’t quite take off in sales as much hence the #19 peak.

it’s even worse with the radio edit “If You See Amy”

I remember loving this at the time but having a quick listen back, it's aged terribly.
