It’s ok to skip them (that’s what I did) but I’m now reading the others too
The characters froM all the books weave in and out and intersect - and I think the next two series will reflect that

I'll be reading them in order before starting The Long Game as I'm weird like that - Book 3 on the way!

There's been talk of a standalone or mini episode before Season 2, the My Dinner With Hayden story at the end of Book 2 might be a good idea to adapt if they do go for that.
