I guess we should have a thread - see if we can beat the whopping 71 posts Beijing 2022 got.

I’ve seen very little promotion for this. The opening ceremony is on Friday evening, but the first events start on Wednesday.

It never feels like a real Olympics, and never grips me like one, but it's better than no Olympics.

I hope we still have some nice Scottish lesbian-coded women to get us a medal in the Curling

I understand the GB men are nearly the odds-on favourites for gold, whereas the ladies are nowhere. Slight chance of a medal in the mixed too.

We do have a Winter Olympics topic, but that was just Shitted Rivalry spam.

I've got the opening ceremony coverage on. I never get THAT INVESTED in the Winter Olympics, because they're the Winter Olympics, but let's see if the Italians put on a show

Is the winter coverage normally on BBC Two, or has it been demoted?

5 minutes for Torvill and Dean to pop up in the opening BBC VT. Quite restrained

I forgot the BBC are limited to about 4 hours live coverage under the current broadcasting deal, so we're going to be subjected to a fortnight of INANE DRIVEL with Claire Balding.

Is there definitely a cap on total hours? I thought they were free to show as many hours as they like, but only on one TV channel and one red button?

Yeah I think the amount of punditry chat is often, ridiculously, a CHOICE

And does she even know where she is? :(

That was very much the WINTER OLYMPICS to Celine up the Eiffel Tower's SUMMER OLYMPICS

This is just a very nice, traditional and classy opening ceremony. It's not blowing my tits off but it's perfectly lovely.

Yeah, I didn't need it to change my life, just be enough. Italian culture is classy enough to pass even when serving at a 6.

Obsessed with the revelation that gay-famous internet celebrity Gus Kenworthy is now randomly on Team GB
