Working from home is far better.

I did a full month in the office in January partly A) as an experiment and B) to get a head start on my 50% year-long target. Working from the office full time had no tangible benefit.
 
It's all the more GALLING for the reason Ill Advised touched on.

We keep on hearing about HOUSING CRISES and the lack of available land to develop. And here we all are sitting on a hideous oversupply of commercial property. Turn them all into soulless flats I say.

Many of them are tied into long-term contracts with the buildings they currently have though. Easier/cheaper to crack down on hybrid than try to extricate themselves from an outdated working model.

It's happened where I work. Huge office working space, with Hybrid working it's an absolute ghost town on Mondays and Fridays, so lo and behold they're starting to roll back on their commitment to hybrid because 'office working improves productivity and fosters collaboration' (bollocks), but it's an open secret what the real motivation is.
 
Also bear in mind that a lot of senior management get to their positions because they sacrificed having a life to climb the ladder. Now, work is their life. They miss being able to manage people directly. They tend to be the ones who push HR into reverting the rules back to more time in office. Guarantee it’s not the ones with an actual life beyond their career.

Conversely, where i work, they've closed a bunch of offices to allow for hybrid working. If everyone turned up they'd be oversubscribed by around 150%. The office is always full even though we only have to go in 50% of the time.

This is how it's actually trending.

Companies only like you in the office because they're paying for the fucker. Soon as that lease runs out you can bet you're working from home 3 days a week.

I don't doubt at all that a lot of companies are thinking this way.

But it's all a fallacy isn't it? Their rent costs are the same whether people attend or not. But they still lose the opportunity to save on other areas like maintaining office equipment, electric, the Friday afternoon beer fridge, staff absence when everyone shares their flu, etc. So without a genuine productivity boost, they're still not proving value for money.

And then when their lease does end and they have a real opportunity to make savings, they're far less prepared for it.

I can't dispute Funky's argument on leadership mindset though.
 
Yeah a lot of it is to do with shit management. I once let someone I employed go to Thailand for 6 weeks and I can tell you know she put in some of her best work while there.

A significant amount of job losses in the last 3 or 4 years are through site closures and 'consolidation' rather than anything else - businesses absolutely will not go back to paying for floorspace, every one of them will tell Farage and his cronies to get fucked.

This was before they legalised weed. I dont think I’d have been able to get her home if that had been around, shes a bigger stoner than most people I know. Its why she got the job.
 
Musk has publicly endorsed Rupert Lowe's answer to the Judean People's Front, Restore Britain. Their target market seems to be voters who feel Reform are that bit too woke.





I'm all for a split in Reform's vote to keep them out of power, but that Overton window just keeps on driftin', doesn't it?

It's because Britain is suffering a stupidity epidemic. Knuckledragging shitcunts whose only value to society is to stuff a fucking bodybag allowing themselves to be frothed into a frenzy by absolute lies and getting so worked up about immigration they don't actually bother to look out of their windows and see the country isn't actually as 'overrun' as they've allowed their tiny little minds to believe. And I don't like to be told we should listen to them or see what they want because they had what they wanted for fourteen years and it fucking SUCKED. We need to start ignoring them, leaving them behind and stop acting like they or their opinions have any relevance or worth.

I know this has turned into a rant but I've just spent a few minutes on Facebook and Twitter seeing cuntishness in real time and I'm at a point now where I'm hoping a significant proportion of the population just fucking DIES.

It's mad because the vast majority of people I know DON'T think like this - even people I know who voted Tory their entire lives and voted Brexit have said they'd never vote Reform because they hate the rhetoric, but then I come across people I know who DO spout this shit and it just reminds me that the bullshit scare tactics are working on some people and they genuinely believe they're an oppressed 'silent majority' who are about to rise up.

This is why I don't go on social media, and why I shouldn't read @big ron's Facebook posts because there's always at least one racist loon in the comments to angry up my blood :D

Restore Britain is mental, but currently has higher odds than the Lib Dems of winning the next election. On the plus side they seem to fragmented the Reform vote.

They’re all over every local rag post about the new “mega mosque” (it doesn’t have the status of mosque - it’s an Islamic prayer hall and community centre to support local doctors etc) with all the “burn it down” and “fill it with bacon” comments. The Facebook comments are about 99% these kind of comments (which I’d love to believe are bots, but…)

Even saw one calling for people to track down the name and address of one of the counter protestors so they can “force her to let a couple of them move in with her” which I reported as a credible threat to safety (from these far right thugs obviously) not that FB took a blind bit of notice of course.

Some of the mental gymnastics are interesting. “They shouldn’t have built it because They will come from all over the country as there aren’t enough local ones” - yeah and I bet you’d be totally in favour of fixing the “not enough local Islamic centres” mate.

Lovely. Really hope we can indeed "make hope normal again"

Those Facebook comments I was on about, god it's everywhere, but we live in hope that's just "quite a lot of right wing bigots are on there because they don't moderate it any more" and bots or full time trolls.
 
The opposition would also have to get a two-thirds majority in order to be able to seriously undo what he's done over the past 16 years, which seems unlikely :(
