A new thread for pro dancer booting rumours:

IF true, I am assuming that Gorka's Spanish judging gig clashes again and he chose that :(

Luba hasn't made a huge impact over a number of years but is apparently very in with Jason Gilkinson so a mild surprise there, but it feels most harsh on Michelle.

And Neil Jones (and Nancy) escape the axe...

To be honest, I was surprised at how little I missed Gorka.

I did wonder that last years' newcomers (Alexis / Julian) both being very well-received wouldn't be good news for some of the older cast.

Neil Jones I think has almost carved out a bit of an unintentional comedy character niche that might protect him.

Who are the longest running dancers now? I assume it must be Karen for the women, but who for the men - I'd guess Aljaz, but don't know if his missed years would mean someone else may take it.

No still Aljaz, Gorka is next. Then must be Neil.

Yes and all the other men are post-Covid hires. In terms of the prominent pros, things are probably a bit fresher on the male side.

I'd love to see Johannes win. But it's rare he's given the type of partner who wins.

He had a decent chance with Alex, but she still isn't the type of contestant who wins. She's over 25 years older than the oldest female winner. The fact that his best chance was with John Whaite kind of speaks volumes.

Oh MY. My dad will be sad. Have four pros ever been axed in one year or is this a STRICTLY RECORD?

Poor Nadiya

I always quite liked her. But then she has largely been sidelined or landed with no hopers for much of her run.

Fancy having Dan Walker as your best placing over a decent length run :(

I think Davood was her best partner and he placed as well as Dan. I agree she has been somewhat unfortunate with her partnerships on the whole, though she is maybe a better dancer than she has been a Strictly pro.

I'm not sure four have gone previously but they did used to be much more cut happy. Things have been much more stable recently, apart from the odd ones who left of their own choosing or under a cloud.

Years ago there was the infamous series when the likes of Ian, Matt, Darren and Lilia were offered the indignity of the short-lived troupe or the door. Pretty uncomfortable for three former winners and a double finalist. This was before the days of the bench. I think Ian and Darren hung around for a year in the troupe and the other two declined.

Ian now merrily competing as a pro on the Australian one! With Craig as a judge

I found out recently that it's pre-recorded over 2-3 weeks. The studio audience vote each episode, then the final is decided by public vote - but filmed months before with two endings recorded.

Which sounds quite ridiculous but I guess the Australian channel isn't as flush with cash as the BBC and US broadcaster :D

I've been applying for audience tickets for YEARS now, and still do even though I have no intention of going any more if I get them :D

Is 'not receiving full time contracts' an actual thing? What they are describing is just not having a partner isn't it?

I always thought they waited until "chemistry testing" with the celebrities before deciding who gets partners and who doesn't.

But maybe deciding in advance now gives the BBC room to avoid paying full wages to the benched.

The chemistry test has definitely been a thing to an extent, though however that went certain pros were always going to get a partner. Going back a bit some pros were on guaranteed celeb contracts and some non-guaranteed. I think it was Chloe who said this after she was let go following two or three years of bench warming. She and AJ were brought in on non-guaranteed contracts, he got a partner straight away and she never did.

It does seem a bit limiting to designate certain dancers extras in advance. I don’t imagine that Neil was going to be dancing with someone else the year Toyah requested him, rather than another younger dancer. Presumably they had to move things about and someone else originally pencilled in to be part of the line-up had to sit out.

Oh wow, lots of them not going to be there for the next series.

I keep seeing that Access All Areas: The 'Real' Strictly Come Dancing show advertised by the BBC but it kind of makes ballroom dancing seem more boring and exclusionary from seeing that. 😅

I do wonder if ALL these stories are true.

I'd have thought personally that with the change of hosts, the BBC would want to keep most of the rest of the dancers and judges pretty stable. Apparently not, if true. I suppose it could be they have a desire to shake things up a bit, and it makes sense to do it all in one go.

I guess they're also gambling that people will be so distracted by new hosts, few will really be paying close attention to the lack of a Neil or even Karen. All of the media headlines come September will be "do XX match up to Claudia and Tess?"

If ever they wanted to quietly reorganise the pros, this might be the year to do it.

Karen seemed over it last season. Harry had so much potential but I feel he got a bit screwed with her choreography.

This seems to confirm at least one of the rumours.

What BIZARRE timing for Strictly to be firing people days before expecting them to sign for an all-smiles tour.

I agree, let the affected professionals confirm their status. It can't be nice with all the rumours and not being able to say anything.

In alleged news on the hosts:

Is it still going to be two?
My bets are on Zoe Ball and Rylan Zoe in the main presenting role Rylan doing the Claudia
