Songs you thought were by someone else

I'm not sure I ever mixed artists up, I've always been a stickler for getting the correct artists.

Although I was never confused a common one is that many people thought and still do think that ‘Bitch’ by Meredith Brooks is by Alanis Morissette.

I’ve also seen some people commenting that they thought Agnes’ ‘Release Me’ was a Leona Lewis song.

The biggest evidence of this was back in the Napster days. So many mis-tagged songs.

I doubt anyone wanted Diana Ross's version of I Will Survive for example, but I believe a large chunk of people thought the original was by her.

As a child, hearing Lonely This Christmas by Mud only ever on the radio, I assume a lot of people around my age assumed it was Elvis Presley.
I used to think that too :D but as a child I had Carrie and David Grant singing a version called I've Lost My Smile. ☺️

I also thought that You Make My Dreams by Hall and Oates was by Elton John. 😅

KC & the Sunshine Band's That's The Way (I Like It) was one I thought was by the Bee Gees. :D

What?!

The first time I heard the song 'Pink pony club' by Chappell Roan, I thought it was a new Tori Amos song.

INCORRECT

When this first landed, I was convinced GERU had inexplicably recorded something understated and actually listenable and without vaginas or I'M-SPANISH-DID-YOU-KNOW

SILLY ME

I was sure someone else would have beaten me to it, but I'd also throw in Chicane feat. Our Enya on "Saltwater".

They both featured in Sex and the City, it's an easy mistake to make.

for some REASON, I thought Ravyn Lenae's Love Me Not was sung by Lola Young. I tend to Shazam everything almost all the time to avoid this, but I guess I didn't have my phone at hand for this one.
