Brendon has been very open with his many fans about his health. In 2023, the actor disclosed to the public that he had experienced a heart attack and was living with a congenital heart condition. He also battled cauda equina syndrome, a serious spinal disorder that required him to undergo multiple surgeries.

He really had a hard time after (and possibly during) Buffy by all accounts.

Elements of that character have aged poorly, but he played him very well. Such a shame.
