I used to use iMessage in 2011 up to 2017-ish (iPod Touch 4th Gen) but not had another Apple device since.

Regarding the WhatsApp archive, more than open contacts mostly people I knew in college, groups like the prefects other biology class groups, and university groups. Also Meta AI, WhatsApp itself haha, and conversations on people's old numbers. I still check through to see what people's profile pictures are like.

I don't use WhatsApp archive, I use the locked chats instead.

Archive is annoying because it still shows a little alert if someone messages.

Locked chats mean I never need to know these chats exist unless I use a passcode to enter them.

Is archive just another word for Mute ?

I don’t have notifications turned on so effectively all my conversations are on mute.

Archive is the next level so I don’t even have to look at the messages coming in.
