Strictly 2026

There are rumours today of three but that seems unnecessary.

I think that Rylan and another seems most likely. He didn't hang around that long on It Takes Two though.

I always assumed Laura Whitmore would somehow be in the running. She fits the bill for a bit of glamour.

She didn't have a positive Strictly experience with Giovanni, which she has been very public about. I guess that neither party would want to revisit.

I wouldn't recognise Laura Whitmore, if I was alone with her and all she did was scream "I'm Laura Whitmore"

I only know her when she took over the Love Island role from Caroline Flack as a presenter and noted best friend.

No way for her.

Now there are reports that Janette and Fleur may or may not be out of It Takes Two:

I prefer Fleur to Janette but the format definitely could do with a refresh.

Presumably 'not factually correct to say that anyone has been axed' is true because they are only contracted yearly anyway, so a contract not being renewed isn't axing?

I wouldn't be altogether surprised if the refresh was another visualised podcast.

Why are they getting rid of all of these dancers? I love Nadiya. :(

Really? If there's one person who gives the impression that she'd rather be anywhere but there, it's Fleur. I imagine presenting on It Takes Two wasn't top of her list of ambitions.

I prefer Janette.

That is probably true but I just find Fleur to be a somewhat better interviewer. Janette seems so tied to the script and visibly balks when answers stray slightly from the expected, or refer to an upcoming question. She's better than when she first started but she's still quite shouty and kids tv.

Luba's turn:

Very classy and gracious from Luba. They are going to struggle to flesh out the goodbye for poor one celeb Michelle.

It obviously makes no difference but interesting that Karen got the executive producer sign off and the other two haven't.

EEK at Michelle turning to The Scum for an interview:

As much as I am sure she was led into some of those quotes (the Robin stuff and hints at tensions/affairs backstage) I don't think this was the road to go down.

I do suspect she may come to regret this.

Whilst it's obviously very understandable why she feels this way, I don't know if pulling out of the live tour stands her in the best stead with the industry.

...and the official Michelle statement

Running to The Sun was a choice, but I do think Michelle had more reason than the others to be disappointed. They all had a decent run of it (Luba maybe less so), while she didn't really get a good shake of the stick though she seemed to do well enough with the chances she was given. She is on the younger end of the pros, and probably looks even younger than her age, which you might have thought would have stood her in good stead.

The Strictly official farewell is pleasant enough but noticeably less effusive (no always part of the Strictly family here):

She's probably not too aware of why people wouldn't like the publication. Even GALA did an interview with GB News (and was subsequently mortified when told).

All female dancers so far, if they're getting rid of any of the males then surely Neil, Gorka and Nikita are next. Also Amy is circling.

The judging panel needs a shake-up too.

AS IF they'd get rid of Nikita or Amy. The former's just been in his second final and the latter's a NATION'S SWEETHEART.

Gorka is already reported to have been axed (or maybe has chosen to leave).

Neil and Nancy are supposedly returning but have been demoted to official 'extra' status.

I agree they would not axe Nikita and Amy would be difficult to cut even if they wanted to.

As they were apparently so keen on freshening up I wonder if Aljaz was discussed... he has quite a few series under his belt and he did opt to leave originally.

I think Carlos chose a good series to win as well.

All the female dancers axed have been A BIT FORRIN, so nobody cares. But let the BBC go for Amy and the press will rise up.

I wonder if the judging panel will change. That's been stable for 5 years now, and the last change was only putting Anton on the panel, so not really a change at all. The last new face was Motsi, and she's had 7 series now. That must be up there with the longest running group of judges in the show's history.

As for judges Craig seems like a permanent fixture, Shirley and Motsi seem like they'd jump before they're pushed. It's still early days regarding Anton.

It was rumoured a few weeks ago that Shirley was in talks to judge a DWTS spin off so she could jump ship easily if that happens

Is this not going to be the same as last year when they all misinterpreted a Neighbours clue and got Stefan Dennis instead?

REBECCA RITTERS INCOMING

I mean it would fit to an extent, but surely nothing would be signed until Eurovision has happened? If she won or did very well, I’m not sure they’d want her to focus on Strictly over her music for the year.
