SNL UK

Wasn’t Julian Clary already involved in the 80s incarnation of Saturday Live? Ben Elton and Harry Enfield definitely were.
He was, yes. My memory is that Saturday Live was more of a rip-off than an attempt to bring the format over. The guests weren't hosts, they were comedians who performed throughout and there wasn't a news element unless that guess brought it. Inevitably there was some topical humour but it felt quite a different thing, despite the obviousness of the title.

Yes, same with the 1996 reboot, but they did have musical guests. That was the first time I’d seen Harry Hill and Armstrong & Miller.

I had a bizarre episode of that recorded from TV that had the aforementioned acts, Leslie Ash and Caroline Quentin doing their cover of Tell Him, and then RAY CHARLES as the musical guest :D

really excited for this, I know he's gonna kill it. he's been very funny on his recent press tour

It was spread a bit thin by the end but I enjoyed it and the sentiment

I loved Emma Sidi as Olivia Colman

This racist Traitors sketch is already incredible

That Weekend Update was absolutely perfect :D

5 stars alone for Easter being described as “the time of year we celebrate the only murdered Palestinian we’re allowed to talk about”.

They need to get their shit together with socials for this. From Saturday's show the youtube channel only has the cold open, monologue, Operation sketch, Traitors and just over a minute of Weekend Update (inc none of the funniest bits or any of the character interviews!)

Yup. I'm highly unlikely to sit and watch it, but I'll happily get on board with the clips. Pretending a few teaser clips is going to push viewing figures is such dated nonsense.

He was their guitarist, but they had to fire their lead singer for being a wrongun

That Riz Ahmed episode had a 20% hit rate at best. Not an easy watch.

tonight's is easily the best episode yet. wall to wall excellence so far - Cold Open and Mastermind sketches were superb and I really enjoyed the golf shenanigans.

and Jorja blows all previous musical guests out of the water.

that gen-Z bit was so good. Annabel Marlow is really fun.

“She was kicked to death by a horse.” was a great ending.

I’d have liked more of ‘Falling Down a Hill With Helen Birch’.

Loved last night's. The Cold Open was the best yet and the rest of the ep didn't sag. Has Emma Sidi been Fergie, Olivia Colman AND Melania?? All fucking great

Jack Whitehall was strong. I could have done without the Michael McIntyre stand up about his wedding in the monologue, but that's a small issue. And was one of the only hetero bits in quite a queer episode :disco:

I enjoyed something about every sketch, but Dad Swap, Mastermind, and the football mascots were my favourites. I hope the little boy who stood in the wrong place and was moving his head to look at everyone who spoke NEVER WORKS IN SHOWBIZ AGAIN. Weekend Update great as per although will Ania flub a line or two every show?

I see it's having next week off. Feels risky

I thought Jorja sounded a bit off at the start of Little Things but got into it and was good after that (and her band sounded great)

Okay I can admit when I’m wrong, and this was very good + funny

it was great, but they for some reason cut the INTRO from the sketch to post it, which is annoying because it was very good

I kinda feel like Ania might not be there if there's a season 2. she's nowhere near the level of charisma or natural comedy that Paddy is giving.

I like Ania and her little involuntary crack ups as a counterpoint to Paddy and his perfect hot smirk.

I assume I'm not the only person on here who didn't get that the first pre-recorded sketch was based on this:

I kinda liked it without this knowledge, but now it makes a LOT MORE SENSE and is funnier

Would love to watch it again with ease, but like most of the UK show it's not on socials :DAF:
