Which civilisation is he going to destroy, anyway? Would be a bit harsh if he went after the Mouri or something, just because of something in the middle east.

Mesopotamian.

There's no point in trying to understand his 'logic'. He's just chaos.

I don’t think we would use a nuke, but I’m still anxious about tonight. I don’t have a grasp on what’s going to happen at all

all of his deadlines extend infinitely. has one ever actually expired?

if the worst case situation happens and we nuke Iran, would it cause a nuclear war? I don’t think any nuclear countries would retaliate on Iran’s behalf, but who knows what could happen

Yes, it would start a chain reaction and it would basically all be over for everyone.

No one is likely to nuke in Iran's immediate defence, however I'd worry that Russia would just go ahead and nuke Ukraine if Trump opened that can of worms, which could have catastrophic consequences the world over.

All the world’s nuclear weapons minutes after the first is launched.

Hmm that seems plausible

This week is that cautionary tale they will tell in history lessons around the world* like the Cuban Missile Crisis. It may be another 50 years before we learn how close to destruction we were in April 2026.

*not America. The education system will have collapsed by then. Learning will consist of 3 hour chants to their glorious leader in Christ and all lessons will be under paid subscription to the government

Thankfully there's no incidents where America has deployed weapons of mass destruction when diplomacy would have... Oh.

Even if the Strait is reopened, a pre-crisis normal is completely NOT guaranteed. Maritime insurers have canceled coverage over less than this. Shipping and insurance companies have lost a lot of confidence in the Strait of Hormuz, and if that reaches the point where markets don't believe they can reliably conduct business there anymore then it may as well be closed. Any new supplier costs will just get thrown onto the consumer anyway.
