The Israel-Gaza war and wider Middle-East tensions (2 Viewers)

Socialism really is a world away now isn’t it? Between the tech bros and the oligarchs and Trumps pals and the oil traders and the bitcoin influencers, the wealth gap got a LOT bigger over the last 12 months.
It's just a 2.5 hour flight away.

Oh Spain is so winning right now. Been following all their anti-Trump rhetoric too. They really give no fucks while the rest of the world fumbles around him. God bless them.

The fact that we all now collectively shrug at this sort of rhetoric because it’s so normal. But it’s not normal.

Loving that Trump keeps saying he doesn’t need us but keeps talking about us.

There's clips online of the politicians behind it, celebrating with alcohol. They have little noose badges. I don't think it's A.I.

I think sociologists and anthropologists are going to have to write new books. Because we really have not evolved as a human race.

You guys have a lot more faith in mankind than me. I expect nothing less from any of the parties involved in this conflict, or any other one happening right now. I don't think human cruelty is something we can just "evolve" out of.

I saw that as well, but I wasn't sure whether it was real or not, you just can't be sure these days.

Matt stated that Israel usually convicts 99% of Palestinians even without a trial, so this is really grim.

🤡

He's hanging the leaving NATO carrot again, but I'm not sure Europe can do anything right in his eyes, so they're best off out.

Meanwhile the oil crisis, is just starting to kick in, particularly jet fuel and diesel. Say goodbye to foreign holidays.

The genocidal cunts didn’t like the idea of a ceasefire and are taking it out on civilians. I’m so disgusted I have no words.

sorry about your neighborhood… but this is deeply misleading and contextless

the “genocidal cunts” didn't “not like the idea of a ceasefire” - Hizbollah started firing missiles at Israel THE MOMENT the ceasefire was initiated, leading to Israel strongly firing back at Southern Lebanon.

So a member of this forums family home is metres away from being blown up and THAT is your response? :manson:

This is not southern Lebanon, these are residential areas in the heart of Beirut. Sunni and Christian neighbourhoods who staunchly oppose Hezbollah. So there’s your context :manson:

Ive never understood why people believe in heaven but I’m starting to grasp that faith in it also gives you faith in a hell and there is comfort in knowing there is place in it for people like you.

The start of this thread is an argument about whether or not a sole hospital the IDF destroyed in Gaza was actually a Hamas base or not. Then there is a long back and forth about whether or not criticising the IDF’s actions in Gaza is anti-semitic.

Three years later - and a UN commissioned inquiry confirming genocide in Gaza - what still persists is this legitimising of the destruction of civilian infrastructures and civilian deaths to justify the actions of the Israeli government. “Sorry about your neighbourhood….but” is a great indicator of how far down the line this has come. It’s crazy.

Look at all those hEzZboLLah Operatives! :DAF::DAF:

I think at this point Netenyahu apologists aren’t event aware of their own cruelty. The point is always to deflect and defend - ISRAEL WAS ATTACKED FIRST!

The context around Israel’s genocidal and murderous behaviour is always secondary, no matter how bad it makes them look.

i did genuinely mean it when i said i was sorry about Darkie’s neighborhood. no one should have to watch their home or city burn. it’s devastating. civilians are the ones who suffer most in these convoluted proxy wars, especially when terrorist groups operate from residential areas.

that is the reality that Darkie's post omitted and I had to correct. to assume that Israel just randomly decides to bomb innocent people is preposterous. Hezbollah, like Hamas, operates from within civilian areas in Lebanon, especially in the south, where the vast majority of Israeli strikes have occurred. embedding military infrastructure in residential neighborhoods puts ordinary people directly in harm’s way and makes an already devastating situation even more devastating.

well i’m sure that if Hamas and Hezbollah were operating from residential areas across your border, firing rockets at your family and friends every single day, Israel's aggressive attacks would make more sense.

Why are you “correcting” someone that’s lived in Lebanon?

Where do you live?

having lived in Lebanon doesn't mean you shouldn't be corrected if you post contextless news?

i live in between the U.S. and Europe. I've spent quite a lot of time in Israel, Lebanon, and Syria and have friends in these three countries. but that's neither here nor there.

So you’re a Zionist living in the west correcting someone who’s spent a good chunk of their life living in the Middle East? :eyes:
