Popjustice DEAD

I think it's good that they're going to make it work with a new forum. As I said it has always been very busy with lots of members.

I hope they change it after he pays for it then. He can't have it both ways. A long time decision for a 2 week notice, but don't call it anything too similar as, what, people looking for popjustice might find it. Gosh.

I really liked it, but mostly just for the up-to-date news. They were so quick with the latest news and rumours. But the moderation was...inconsistent, to say the least.

It seemed rather biased. If you so much as passed a negative comment in the threads of certain artists, you could be reprimanded and/or banned, yet other threads could be persistently trolled by posters who hated that artist, yet that was perfectly fine. I could never quite work it out. It just wasn't at all consistent, and Peter clearly didn't want to be bothered with any of that stuff, so it was left to a certain group who, in my humble opinion, abused their moderation "powers". And certain posters for whatever reason were deemed untouchable, no matter what they did.

That's why I would only browse it for the past few years and rarely posted.

Forum Business > Moderation Discussion

I think this exchange sums up the worst type of poster and worst type of mod:

Which artists received mod favoritism?

I have only heard the name Pop Justice throught here and don’t think I have ever went near but I would be more than happy to get some new blood here. I won’t interrogate, I promise.

I had a Popjustice account back in the day but haven’t posted in years. I remember it being very literal and humourless although some of the threads did have some handy info about some niche or blast from the past artists i liked.

I was also recipient of a one week ban under the heading of “read the room” for saying somebody’s album didn’t add anything of note to their catalogue and therefore I found it a bit redundant. Can’t remember whose it was though.

Pop2/Popsquared (for the domain) seems like a hot choice to me.

obviously it's getting a bad rep here but Popjustice is a fabulous forum. it's night and day with Moopy but some of the discussion in the music threads (and beyond) there is really great. and like here there is a certain sense of humour and morality that pervades, that you will either like or not, and indeed it can feel cultish. but I will DEFEND that pink hellhole to the last.

You can really lose a rather boring hour over at Buzzjack researching the past of Inner Smile.

He has definitely changed. As has Jark.

I found it a bit OTT that they banned a poster for his online presence OUTSIDE the forum tbh...
if you're referring to the event I think you are, they didn't ban him (as far as I know!). he never stopped posting. and he was a cunt in what he did :D

oh. I thought you meant the poster who went viral for being caught on video pushing somebody out of the way for a better spot at a gig :D
Oh the evil Apple guy? I didn't know he was a Popjustice user!
No, someone digged up some user's tweets and he was definitely banned.

I thought the forum's general vibe was utterly insufferable and in love with their own assumed status as online cultural taste makers. I would love to wish them the best but I find them all being dispersed around the internet gay landscape rattling the tins and sticking their legs out on the side of the street looking for somewhere else really funny.
