Well people were being ageist towards her before she even turned 40. It's no wonder she decided to put 2 fingers up to them.
 
Why is ageing such a taboo? We (rightly) let everyone be who they want be, identify how they want to and do what they want…but not if you’re a 67 year old woman who has done more for women, for gay men, for AIDS, for the advancement of sexual freedoms than pretty much any female celebrity ever?

I mean if you have something against older pop stars, go off sis. But nobody needs YOUR permission or approval to have a music career at any age. It's ok to not get it. It costs you nothing to stop stanning.

Why are you attacking me when I'm defending her? She is in a league of her own (pun not intended). Of course she can do whatever she likes, but her clear fear of ageing & perhaps even more so of being seen to age is not liberating. She is proving her detractors right.

it's a bit of a cliché to say but it also needs to be said louder - her most radical act is simply sticking around. who else has had a career this long and storied and still whips up a frenzy with the announcement of new music? some singer songwriter/artistes have done it nobody who is a proper POPSTAR has continued to play the game into their sixties and maintain relevance in the mainstream.

forget hit singles. I think it's an under appreciated element of her legacy. she's showing other popstars (even the likes of Kylie who is a generation behind) that there is a path to keep doing this, and she's forcing society to confront their prejudices about what it's appropriate for an older woman to be doing. and not that it matters but... she's still hot. get it!

Anyway, I think this is more in the vein of I Don't Search I Find than Future Lovers. All three would make a great medley/mashup for the next tour (please don't tell me there's not going to be a tour, you stupid slut).

you don't seem to have any comprehension of the fact that society is set up to make women in particular feel that they should chase youth, and that if Madonna does wish she were younger (I would hazard a guess that a lot of people do especially in the public eye) that doesn't take away from what she's doing. your critique punishes her for the ecosystem she exists within. it signifies somebody with no critical thinking abilities beyond MADONNA OLD PLASTIC SURGERY BAD.

It's a strange sort of fan who criticises her for doing whatever the fuck she wants to do on her own terms, just because it makes you uncomfortable.
