Diving into Tori: help a girl out (she'll darn your socks and wash your...) (1 Viewer)

Just finished listening to the beekeeper and it's one of her weaker albums IMO. I was bored whilst listening to it. And sadly I don't think this one is going to grow on me.

SAD!

The Beekeeper title track is very From the Choirgirl Hotel coded. what a song.

Just watched tori live at montreux 1991 / 1992 and it has made me very excited to see her live in April!

had this shipped from Canada. not my fave album by any means but the picture is just so GORGEOUS! need to get it framed.

also. From the Choirgirl Hotel has really pulled away as my fave Tori album right now. maybe it needs a thread in THE CLASSICS. and Under the Pink is revealing itself very nicely.

Yes from the choirgirl Hotel is very good. I've been listening to boys for Pele lately (my latest tori album) and it is also very good. Just waiting for to Venus and back to arrive.

Moopy got me into tori, she was never on my radar before. When she was at the height of her popularity in the 90s I was too young and then she became even less mainstream after scarlets walk. Glad I got into her eventually though!

I'm currently loving DON'T MAKE ME COME TO VEGAS. really sounds like it should've been a big fat hit in 2003. Scarlet's Walk is all very good without wowing me yet, but this one and I Can't See New York are stellar.

I’ve so many gigs booked over the next few months that I keep forgetting I’m seeing her in just over a week’s time. Ideally would have liked the new album out before the tour but the setlist could be pretty much anything anyway.

The last tour had my favourite opener ever, the Juarez/Bouncing Off Clouds medley mashy uppy kinda thing.

That version of Bouncing off Clouds was so good!!

This and Ireland!

I actually like DMMCTV but the fandom GENERALLY dislikes it. But I Can't See New York is always breathtaking.

The little knowing head/eye movements around "and you said, you did" always gets me here

not THE FANDOM shading all my guilty pleasures. I cried before reading through the Beekeeper sync listen thread and all of you being nasty ah (as hoochie) about ALL of my faves. :D :disco:

I know we already know it but hearing these snippets back to back, well, what a fucking album (not the way I’d rank it though). Sometimes I think I just want the backing track on i i e e e just to swallow me up.

is it just me that thinks Little Earthquakes is her weakest (least great) album of the 90s?

i I e e e at number 11 is the worst take I have EVER heard in my ENTIRE life, sorry Jark we can't even be friends any more, I'm FUMING and I'm going to need the weekend to RECOVER

Whilst I no long recognise the existence of the poster who coined the phrase, I do feel like the PANDORA'S CHOICE comment is correct because about 9 of the songs are the best on the album, which in turn is my second favourite album of all time :disco:

12. Pandora's Aquarium**

* Clearly a huge classic but just overplayed by moi. But my God the video

** Though she did this in the past two London shows and it's really revealed itself to me live and on Diving Deep

The trouble is it is a PERFECT album without a flaw. Urgh @Jark I guess I forgive you. On the condition that you listen to i i e e e on repeat

Also the first Amsterdam show was just a SCARLET FEST and I'm very jealous. She did:

Crazy
Sweet Sangria
Don't Make Me Come To Vegas
a sorta fairytale
Tombigbee !!!

Why the disdain for Jackie’s Strength?!
I think it's quite a pretty song but the intro is kind of awful and I always want to skip it for that alone. the verses are great though. but for pretty songs there are prettier on the album i.e. Northern Lad.

oh my god. choosing from this album makes sense for where her voice is at, because a lot of these songs don't have huge vocal range. I hope most of these make it to Paris. there are two shows before then so maybe they'll have circled back

Venus is the weakest one for me.
Little Earthquake has some weak tracks, but the highs are just stunning. I mean, can you imagine a world without Crucify, Precious Things, SATY, Winter or Girl?

Don't murder me Ig but She's Your Cocaine gets on my tits. Flawless aside from that one though obviously
