No thread for this album? Honestly, that feels about right. I’ve always thought it was pretty middle-of-the-road, especially as a follow-up to The Velvet Rope.

Wasn’t this around the time she leaned a bit too heavily into singing about her privates? More power to her for that, but it would’ve landed better if the songs themselves were stronger :(

I mean

It was such a step down from The Velvet Rope but it did that thing of being a hit off the back of previous works, really.

The title track is undeniably great, though. I’ve played it in my last couple of DJ sets and it’s gone down a storm too, surprisingly. I’d guessed it would have been forgotten.

I remember the Janet forum at Dotmusic melting down when this came out

ALL FOR FOOD
DID YOU REALLY EAT IT

I kinda hate this album.

ALL FOR YOU
COME ON GET UP
YOU AIN'T RIGHT
WHEN WE OOOH

are great. but the rest is kinda limp. Damita Jo did it sooo much better.

I did like the more aggressive You Ain't Right and cute-but-anodyne Come On Get Up, but title track aside found it rather watered down (although I dread do think with what fluids).

Yes a step down from what came before it but a very enjoyable summer album tbh. Someone To Call My Lover and the title track in particular have aged well.

I will say they put their full pussy in for the special edition

That's the version I (still!) own :disco: I loved watching the DVD for it. As for the album, meh, I agree with Jark that those were the most acceptable tracks but from that tracklisting, it was slim pickings.
Also, it was the least worst thing from all the nightmareish stuff that came after :zombie:

08 You Ain’t Right
10 All for You
09 Come on Get Up
04 When We Oooo
04 China Love
06 Love Scene (Ooh Baby)
02 Would You Mind
09 Trust a Try
07 Son of a Gun
03 Truth
10 Someone to Call My Lover
08 Feels so Right
08 Doesn’t Really Matter
08 Better Days

I forgot how early in the track list the sex songs are and all consecutively. Probably why it overshadows the rest

Seriously DREADFUL

07 You Ain’t Right
10 All for You
06 Come on Get Up
03 When We Oooo
00 China Love
00 Love Scene (Ooh Baby)
00 Would You Mind
08 Trust a Try
07 Son of a Gun
00 Truth
07 Someone to Call My Lover
04 Feels so Right
-1 Doesn’t Really Matter
00 Better Days

I must see if I can find a good remix of Someone as I've always been non-plussed at the praise that it gets. She definitely coasted on status and the goodwill of her reputation a bit here.

I threw this on for a walk in the park today. Total slop mostly of course, but it was a vibe in the sunny weather and the well timed appearance of a sweaty hunky topless jogger during the baby making songs was an added bonus.

Baby would you mind…
CUM INSIDE ME
:disco:

I’ve been prompted to play this now too due to this thread. Janet trending again. #moan #whimper #mumble

@Joseph did you post this from your ALT account? My God, how much All for You official CRAP can someone own?

EDIT: I didn't know physical censored versions stopped happening as of 2026 :D :manson:

How dare you call me out like this.

I can’t even imagine having this much stuff for any album especially this one lol

I feel like Discipline came out when people were already over her and it didn't get the flowers it deserved.

Discipline is a better album than All For You. high key.
I remember some highs “Rock With U”, “Feedback”, “2nite”, and “Luv” being cute but don’t remember anything else. What am I missing?

Damita Jo is easily the most consistent of all the 2000s albums- but it lacked an obvious smash. And obviously the Super Bowl didn’t help but that’s a whole other topic.

those, Rollercoaster, The 1 with Missy, title track, Let Me Know (bonus) and Curtains are great

omg. and I forgot the ridiculous SO MUCH BETTA which is largely sung by KYOKO

count me in for the Damita Jo (isn't that like a COUNTRY name?) love too! But the CHEEK of relegating something as brilliant as Put Your Hands On to Japan-Only Bonus Track status was puzzling. I mean, the nerve to fight for the PUSSY SONGS to stay :D

I bet you she hates all of those albums and her fans know way more about her career than she does.
