I never thought a post this afternoon about Enya's mother being paralleled to MJ's mother on Reddit would be more viewed than a new cover of Caribbean Blue on YouTube, but that has happened.

Enya is glad to know that some who've casually heard of her now realise she's from a musical family, much like the Jacksons, deserving recognition for how she made her name as a solo artist (even more positive than Michael Jackson got/gets).

With the Police cassette from the first record Enya ever owned:

I got a copy of one of these today, Reggatta de Blanc A&M cassette from 1979 some very edgy tracks.
I imagine Enya obviously loves the singles like Message In A Bottle, Walking On The Moon, maybe has a thing for Does Everyone Stare, and Bring On The Night.
Oh and Deathwish which mixes fascinatingly well with Lazy Days:

The one called Deathwish (the guitar rhythm in particular) reminded me of Enya’s song Lazy Days (mixed here)
Every Breath You Take is good, but it's an easy "what's your favourite song" answer for Enya.

^Then again so is saying Only Time haha. Message In A Bottle is probably the Caribbean Blue fan favourite equivalent.

For some reason I wonder if either Olive or Roma would sing backing vocals on a new recording with Eithne Roma's mother was a singer.
Olive has a higher range/lighter timbre from what I've heard of the group performances.

Enya's favourite three Disney Princesses (of the Classic and Renaissance eras) are Aurora (Sleeping Beauty), Ariel (The Little Mermaid) and Pocahontas.

For some reason I imagine Enya going to see The Little Mermaid in 1989 with Roma's daughters, not just for them, but to imagine herself as Prince Eric and identify with that longing Ariel has to escape the trappings of the family...

As she did that, she was vaguely singing the tune made famous by Boney M., with the names of mythological figures in the lyrics, like "Athena...Púca" (Hi-de-hi-de-ho)

Enya likes the way Billie Eilish approaches her music, and is interested to see how the James Cameron-directed concert collaboration thing turns out.

If he had asked Enya at 24 and the Ryans agreed, she'd perhaps have accepted an offer to work together. But 12 years later, a no to Titanic, since that would be using her.


With fame and internet stuff Billie had/still has a more intense situation, but to actually get things heard and believed, Enya must've had it harder. She had left the family band just a couple of years before, whereas Billie has been collaborating with her brother Finneas for ages, and their parents have connections with famous people. Nicky had connections with a few Irish artists, but Roma had to write to film producers to get Enya's music heard, rather than the trio just getting an interesting e-mail.
