The Comeback

I think it's an episode that will improve when you re-watch it after the entire series has ran. I didn't get why she didn't just remind the useless showrunner that he will have signed a NDA.

Halfway point though :(

The And Just Like That...-ification of The Comeback :( episode upon episode where nothing really happens and scenes drag on for ages.

I wanted to see the writers reaction to being fired since we saw so much of them last episode and it was weird that they were just gone. I realize this isn’t a 23 episode situation but it felt weirdly abrupt with no real closure.

I also don’t have time for Mark becoming an asshole because there’s not enough episodes for a redemption for him.

I think they have good ideas this season but I just worry they are going to have to rush them all because we have limited time left.

Ok this was easily the best episode this season

Also, I forgive you Mark 😭

I’m behind everyone atm but so far I’m ok with Mark being a dick because it feels like it’s building to something

I absolutely loved the scene with the costume designer and then all the Mickey scenes. Valerie’s character has definitely evolved, one of the sad things about that is we get less of her self awareness (it’s still there) which is where the best laughs used to come from, but in place of that is a really likeable, confident woman with good intentions. Which is a joy to watch in a different way.

The running joke of her forgetting everyone’s name or not recognising people still kills me though :D

Can’t decide who the villain is this season between the male writer manchild, and Billy. The female writer is also hard work but you can understand her frustration, she was written as the voice of disgruntled Hollywood and you sort of get it!

Just up to the Paulie G returns episode, and I’m loving the writing here. It’s covering every nuance of ego and insecurity that Hollywood has, and how making TV brings out the absolute worst in people.

I love that we’re getting to see more of people pleaser Valerie again, it’s wonderful watching her dig herself deeper trying to keep everyone happy.

I do have to say though Mark really is coming off bad this season. I get that he’s “changed” but poor Val having to put up with that man’s shenanigans and him lying to her this whole time.

Yeah I don’t know that Lisa has really had this much great acting on a show before. She really is underrated and I hope she gets some kind of award for it.

The Hot Ones closing credits omg :D

Best moment of the season

Really cute episode although the show has completely evolved into a dramedy now, and I wonder if that puts some people off. The writing and acting is still completely on point though so it’s not bothering me at all

Yeah they have really veered away from constant cringe BUT I think it’s part of Val just getting older and growing as a character. I’m sad it’s almost over (again)

Not to be that person, but I cringe at this show being labelled cringe. It's never been that simple in what it delivers and how. I think people processing it as such was a big reason season 1 wasn't a conventional hit. Even when Claudia was asking if Lisa was influenced by The Office, to me, was missing the mark.

I’m enjoying her growing and how she is handling herself - it feels earned.

I don't know where it's going but I trust them - this seems just so so much better than And Just Like That - and I'm assuming that that is very largely to do with Lisa Kudrow and her quality filters.

So basically probably not an episode about a toilet not flushing.

Meanwhile, I haven't lived under a rock thanks, but just to say that the podcast has seemingly been made public early by accident. The screengrab doesn't give anything away, but spoilers may now be out there. Haven't watched it.

I don’t know that I loved the finale BUT I get why it ended that way.

I have to say Lisa REALLY deserves all the awards because she’s acted her ass off this season.

Finally watched this. It's nice of course - bless them deciding a Monica, Rachel and Phoebe spin-off would be called Girlfriends and not realising the name is taken. Plenty of The Comeback (and The Morning Show).

Oh no. Shame to hear James Burrows passed away. Yes, Friends and Cheers, etc, is where his legacy lies, but he was so useful and effective for The Comeback it's really how I'll remember him.
