HAPPY GAY CHRISTMAS

So, later today I’m attending a march to mark the 78th anniversary of the Nakba. That was when at least 15,000 Palestinians were murdered by Zionist militia and 750,000 were ethnically cleansed. So it’s not much of a “gay Christmas” for this particular gay. I certainly won’t be watching an event that a country committing genocide has used and is using to whitewash its reputation as it engages in mass murder in more than one country.

I agree with everything you say, but why should I let them ruin my favourite cultural event of the year?

I switched the channel for 3 and a bit minutes on semi final #1. Luckily for me semi final #2 looked beyond my boredom threshold so I skipped it, and the only song I truly loved didn't get into the final anyway, therefore I won't be watching.

I think a uniform protest of switching off for those 3 minutes (preferably to the same channel to have it be evidenced in some reportable form) wouldn't be a bad idea at all and would be a small way to still enjoy the show.

In no way can I understand anyone wanting to actually be in attendance though. Your boos will be dubbed and your turning your back will have other footage edited on top? Sounds fun. Enjoy :disco:
 
I see Kate Butch posted something like 'if you're watching Eurovision this year, you're a bit of a prick' on twitter yesterday, faced a lot of heat for it and has now locked her account down.

I'll be watching. I've loved the contest for nearly fifty years and am not having it taken from me.
 
I haven't decided whether to or not yet, but that's because I don't know whether I can be BOTHERED rather than any WRANGLING WITH MY CONSCIENCE

I was asked whether I was watching yesterday at work in my new position of HOMOSEXUAL IN RESIDENCE and I think there was SHOCK at my DISINTEREST

In other news I HATE OXFORD PILLOWCASES. THERE I'VE SAID IT
 
Today is the day I learned what Oxford pillowcases were. I have many, as well as housewife pillowcases, and never realised they had different names.

I think I would have had this same attitude if the contest organisers had an iota of consideration for delegations and fans who have voiced their concerns. Instead, we know fully well Martin Green & co will consider every single viewer some sort of vote of validation for the continued participation of Kan & Israel. I’m not giving them that.

At the very least, I personally find voting and spending money, even if it is just pennies, a red line towards that very validation
 
I don't think it's a decision that many (well, here at least) have made lightly. But I will still enjoy it. And I guess I'm trading that against being 0.000001% or whatever of the validation Martin Green sees in the audience.

And perhaps I ought to donate £20 to MAP or UNICEF or something, thinking about it.
