I’d not heard it til last night and have no idea what the rest of MF was like, but it really didn’t strike me as anywhere near as good as they normally send. Particularly the first 30 seconds where her voice was painfully on show. It did improve as soon as the bass hit.

now that the dust has settled it’s clear that this song and performance joins the ranks of Hero in that it must have seemed too much like an interval act from a guest star rather than a competing entry. Particularly with the video effect at the song’s climax being like something out of the SuperBowl.

My husband said after that the whole entry is so clearly above 95% of the entries that it’s almost as if it exists in a different universe - possibly too ahead of its time?

Sweden are never going to get a fair shot at Eurovision as they are always undermarked by juries - tall poppy syndrome, alas.

But what an incredible song for the summer, alongside Bangaranga and Eclipse (remix)
