House of the Dragon (GoT Prequel)

Hopefully Stranger Things kills it, it started it and now the final season is here no one gives a fuck because it started 30 years ago and all the kids are 40.

I'd much rather Arya than Jon, so that's possibly worked out well.

As for poor George. He should have demanded script approval then.

It’s really starting to show how much HBO has been impacted by multiple takeovers. Most of the team who made Game Of Thrones, Veep, Girls, Succession, Euphoria, Big Little Lies have long gone. For a while they were untouchable. Now it’s just a big hot mess.

At least we have Hacks and White Lotus. And I do really like House Of The Dragon, despite the issues behind the scenes, and the drawn out schedule

If they have an arc that's fine, and don't get bored in the final season, cut it down to 6 episodes and try and fit a decade worth of war into 2 hours.

This is honestly such an incredible show. But it's a total joke how long they take to release seasons. I can't remember who half the cast is, and the significance of the relationships between all these people is too important to not understand. I feel like I need to watch the last 3 or 4 episodes just to reacquaint myself.

I mean I had no idea what was happening when it was on! Never mind two years later.

This is finally back next week. Reviews are coming in and the gist seems to be that it hits with a big spectacle, it is generally more eventful and Emma D'Arcy is especially good (as is the debuting James Norton).

The main complaints seem to be with inconsistent pacing, continuing dead end subplots and also, from book people, deviations from the precious source text.

did everyone watch the vastly superior Knight of the Seven Kingdoms? :disco: the real sequel (prequel) we deserved.

People complain about inconsistent/poor pacing on just about everything these days. I don't listen to people.

Same. I think HOTD has been incredible. My only complaint remains the unnecessary gap of 2 years and it loses all momentum and relevance and you have to recap to remember what the fuck happened. It’s not exactly a basic storyline that’s easy to return to.

But the acting is the best I’ve seen from any sci-fi / fantasy show ever. I can’t think of anything that tops it.

So everyone still looks the same and has the same names then :(

I think I'm into the new BIG DRUMS remix of the theme music.

Was lifting the Lizzie I line a little on the nose?

I’m not watching this until I watch the S2 finale again. I won’t have a clue what’s happening.

Just to say, the reviews are spectacular.

Sorry is the sexy people killing each other with dragons show too exciting for you? I think the Vanessa Feltz show is on for another week!

I watched the S2 finale at the weekend and it definitely helped.

Can they focus on killing the ugly people first.

Yeah I’m sorry I didn’t rewatch the last episode from THREE YEARS AGO, but aside from the main blonde bitch and the main ginger bitch I didn’t have a fucking clue who anyone was or how they all related to each other.

These shows really need to PICK UP THE PACE.

I just watched the S2 finale again and fuck me, I’m so glad I did. One, because my memory was only about 10% of the show and I had to do a LOT of gap filling thanks to ChatGPT. And two, because the show really is fucking amazing, and should only be watched when all the significance and backstory is in place for all the scene chewing.

The fact that the two leads weren’t nominated for Emmys - even for the last scene alone - for season 2 is a travesty.

NOW I’m looking forward to this slow burn hot mess. The fact that it’ll be finished again before the end of the summer and we’ll have to wait another two years for the final season is fucking ridiculous, but HEY HO

The way black America has taken hold of this show is amazing. The social content is endless.

Okay I'm losing the plot, I seriously thought we had had 3 episodes. We really did get so much so early. So liked for Monday morning 2am.
