Highly unlikely there'll be much of a competitive bidding process, so safe to assume Bulgaria will host in their capital.

The Bulgarian broadcaster BNT has confirmed that it intends to host the Eurovision Song Contest 2027 following DARA's victory in Vienna.

Their only other viable arena is in Burgas, which would be a nice coastal location but probably lacks the infrastructure.

That is a massive longshot with no arena. But this is the stage where every city will basically claim they're interested for a bit of free publicity.
 
Plovdiv is a beautiful city but doesn't sound very realistic!
 
I’ve only been skiing in Bulgaria in a place called Pamporovo and my most vivid memory is a taxi driver swigging vodka neat as he negotiated bending mountain roads.

I also had a terrifying taxi experience in Sofia!

He wasn't visibly swigging vodka, but he was telling me an anecdote about some famous Bulgarian magician who my hotel was named after, which involved him putting both hands under his sweater to demonstrate one of his apparent signature tricks, all while not remotely looking at the road and doing about 90mph down the freeway.

Think I'll stick to the metro this time...
 
I’ve had two different hotels in Sofia cancel bookings for next May I made last week.

Luxembourg had only been given funding up until this year, but the PRIME MINISTER has confirmed their intention to be back next year, which seems reassuring after the NQ.

🇸🇰 Slovakia: Rádio Slovensko Manager Hopeful of a Return to Eurovision in the Future - Eurovoix

Jindřich Bardon, program manager of Rádio Slovensko, has stated in an interview with Czech media that he is hopeful that Slovakia will return to Eurovision in the future.

All rather tenuous but I didn’t realise they’d actually physically been at the contest this year. Plus Slovenia’s new government is much more pro-Israel, so the EBU could really luck out and get quite a few returnees next year (which would be great in usual circumstances but…)
 

“The vote to promote CBC/Radio-Canada to full Member followed a revision to the EBU’s Statutes, also approved by the General Assembly today. The revised framework opens extra-European Membership to broadcasting organizations [sic] from countries with a public service media system aligned with core Council of Europe standards and formal observer status with the Council of Europe. Canada meets both criteria.”
 
Mexico, Japan and the USA are also observer states of the Council of Europe.
 
I accept that Australia have made themselves feel very welcome in the last 10 years, but this is feeling a teensy bit jumping the shark.

Happy to change my mind once we get suitably cool Avril Lavigne bop though. (Finishes 16th)
 
Separately - when was the last time the dates for the following year's contest weren't confirmed at the contest before? @auretz?

Looks like 2026’s dates weren’t confirmed til the Vienna as host city announcement in August so last year I guess :D I think that’s usually how it goes now, although it’s fallen into a bit of a pattern of being the week in the teens
 
They’ve whittled the host city list down to Burgas and Sofia. Plovdiv, Varna and Cardiff OUT.
