Apologies if this is old news and stale buns but I've only just seen it. The conspiracy theorists reckon they've worked this one out and it's quite interesting. The theory is that his mic pack had been boobytrapped but went off in the wrong direction - upwards, blowing out his neck, instead of inwards, blowing out his chest. This, the person they were meant to blame (and shoot) couldn't be blamed any more, hence the ridiculous scrabbling around desperate to find someone trans in the vicinity and that hilarious faked text exchange. I don't quite believe it myself but I don't have a saved copy of the actual moment to watch.
