I think there is certainly a pressure to not only retain a mystique but also to be erudite at all times. I don't envy her and I can see why she is always braced for a "gotcha" moment.

she clearly does get on with Charli because after their front row at PFW moment she had her up on stage with her dancing for hours and then they co-hosted another party. M looked very at ease.

obviously it's a different environment but I don't really see her being like that with Kylie. I think she agreed to the Kylie segment because she knows the value of good press, but I don't think it was particularly a special moment for her. she did seem indifferent.

also, this is Madonna. she has ALWAYS loved a younger model and never had much time for her own generation of peers.
 
You can also see how she was a bit unnerved by Graham correcting her pronunciation earlier in the interview.

And you're not really giving her the credit that she deserves if you think she simply agreed to things happening in the show without manufacturing the setups herself. I doubt it was the BBC who reached out to Kylie. Why would they - it's not like Kylie was in any way instrumental in Madonna's career.
 
the show was made by a production team. they organised the host, the venue, the format, any script, all of it. I really doubt Madonna reached out to Kylie personally for a little favour - the BBC would've pitched it and she agreed. so no I don't think M manufactured every setup herself, that's not how these things work at all.
 
It’s exactly the kind of item the BBC loves to do in these specials, of course they engineered it.
 
Charli is flavour of the moment. Beyond them having a few social moments I doubt Madonna gives much thought to her either in the way she doesn't to Kylie. I'm not the one reading anything further into that segment - I'm only reacting to the reading of it by a few individuals.

Clearly you know better though and this should really have been a when CharliXCX met Madonna type scenario.

But why Kylie? Granted they performed together 2 years ago but beyond that there is very little linking the two of them.

darling you really read way too much into this. all I said was that the choice of host and setting did not lend itself very well to Madonna being unguarded and going deep into the creative process. you don't have to agree that Charli would get better insight out of her, that's fine. have a blessed day :)

here's charli on 6 radio with Nick Grimshaw discussing Madonna. she says Hollywood was the song that got her into M (taste!).



"she's fab - she's just so cool, and so interested in really talking about, you know, the music that she makes, and how and why..."

it feels like the current gen are giving M her flowers much much more these last few years.
 
I haven't a clue if Madonna's ever mentioned Enya. I only know Enya (80s or 90s) sympathised with Cher and Madonna being 'more prone to men's desires', and when asked in 2005 if she ever wanted to be like Madonna, she said she rather listened to The Police in the 80s. :D

Enya is such a bitch, completely ignoring Madonna throughout her whole career, but openly expressing admiration for Jackson! 😢😅

I love them both so much, my queens, but this dynamic always sends me 😂👑
