Madonna - Confessions II OUT NOW (5 Viewers)

1. I think this album will eat OG Confessions up. I know we don't pit queens against one another on moopy but I'm choosing to due to the decision to market this album as a SEQUEL making comparisons inevitable.

the actual confession part of this is that I don't think Confessions on a Dance Floor is one of her best albums overall. so I feel good in this prediction.
 
2. I did in fact download the LEAK old school style to my phone for my eurostar to London today and hit play before I left Paris. I've got the three bonus tracks left to go and all I will say is this (not really spoilery just in case you're sensitive)

I'll save detailed thoughts for tomorrow but just to say miss Fanny was dead on the money - this album gets stronger as it goes on and the run of songs from Love Without Words to Fragile will blow your wigs CLEAN OFF. for those of you already bald it may provoke unprecedented follicle regrowth. either way your scalp situation will be radically altered. this is NOT a coincidence. would you like to try??????

Bizarre is a career ender. other peoples', not hers.
 
It's SO much more adventurous and infinitely more CONFESSIONAL than the first Confessions album. Obviously both are wonderful, but this is much more layered, expansive and one helluva journey.
 
I arrived in New Zealand safely and I've listened to it TWICE.

The DANCE portion of the album is very hit and miss for me. If Love Sensation is the kind of thing that gets you excited you'll love it. Most of it PLODS ALONG in a similar fashion. Can't see myself returning to much of it but I do like Danceteria, Everything and Bizarre. Mind you there is nothing BAD here. Even Read My Lips is fine but would benefit from losing the bunny.

Now where it gets much more interesting for me is from Fragile onwards. You could say these songs could belong on an entirely different album that I would have loved. Confessions OFF the Dancefloor. Fragile-My Sins Are My Savior-Betrayal...I absolutely love this run. The Test ALMOST gets there but I'm not including it for now. Downtempotriphopodonna did that etc. Her vocals also sound surprisingly good here, in fact I think you could say that about most of the album unless I just got used to them or something.

I think I actually got more out of this than I was expecting. You can all carry on with the loonage now. :)
 
I don’t really mind the reuse of the ABBA sample, as it’s just for a throwaway bonus track. If it was being reused in a single, that would be a different story.
 
Well, the execution for this is what Rebel Heart intended to be with its 85 tracks but failed so hard (darling). It really gives the impression of it being two different albums sonically.

Danceteria is #1 on New Music Friday in NZ/OZ and Japan, so bodes well for a good placing across the US and Europe tomorrow.

Rather perched for this but shall wait until the actual morning rather than midnight.
 
I have no idea how to make NZ work because changing my VPN has done nothing to my Apple Music but it had better let me play at UK midnight rather than waiting for Mexican.

You need an account that's actually based in New Zealand for Apple Music and Spotify but Youtube works.
