The Confessions II first listen thread (1 Viewer)

is it just me or is Bring Your Love completely different? a new vocal from Sabrina, at times it seems like a different vocal from M too, loads of processing stripped away... lots of different production elements (especially around the "I have a confession..." breakdown). why didn't we just HEAR THIS VERSION FIRST?
 
As if you didn't all know that I was going to be the CONTRARY CAROL for this (and any other) album!

I had this as a disappointing 6 but right now I'm bopping to it like an 8, so I'll give it a 7.
 
I've drunk enough tonight to feel slightly dizzy at this point, which may be the perfect context to be listening to this album in

Danceteria is really fucking unbelievably faggy (complimentary).

the little verse where she references Keith Haring and Basquiat and the beat briefly drops and she sings "Puerto Rican boys they make me crazy..." :disco:
 
I didn't really pay much attention to Danceteria in the promo because I was so taken by "One Step Away", and the video was a distraction, but this is great.

My only complaint is the sheer amount of spoken word so far, but the beats have NOT let up. I take it all back, this is way more house influenced than straight up EDM.

Read My Lips started off wobbly but the latin vibe is actually working

Vocal not GREAT...
 
OH this is from the promo as well isn't it? I hated it there. :confused: This works MUCH better on the album.
 
I played this album once through today and then returned to a few songs to cherry pick... and Read My Lips has been on repeat. there's something very two thousands-donna about the lyricism (evocative but vague) that quite excites me. it's like it could've existed in the creatively barren period but here it's executed SO well.
