Although also "Used to hate you, I don't hate you"...

What is that sample used in Read My Lips

I have googled and can’t find anything but I swear that music is from a pretty similar to a big dance song

Read My Lips gives me Isaac, Like It or Not and Spanish Lesson - all at once.

I'm sure if I look in a month Read My Lips will be my most played, without feeling like it's my favourite per se

that WARM production nestled among so many icy electronic songs is quite addictive

also how great are the SUPER NASALLY CROW VOX on that one verse of Love Without Words

THIS IS A CLUUUÜHEEEEERBBB

I never realized she disliked Joan that much
I remember reading that Joan took a very strict, disciplinarian approach which never made her popular with the kids, but I'd also just assumed that Marge had made peace with her as she'd gotten older - especially as her own approach to raising her kids sounded similar. Clearly not.

her vocal across Betrayal really is excellent. she sounds just like early 00sdonna.

I hadn't realised that Maverick records was still a thing. Nice to see the logo back on her album again!

Releasing a diss track about her recently deceased step-mother is WICKED :D

I listened to this song again, and it feels like she’s singing confessionally about how she felt at the time. Admitting her contempt and reflecting on it. More of an honest admission than actually insulting her.

I guess it could be taken either way.

She literally talks about hammering nails in her coffin :D

There are conciliatory moments, ok, but it is fairly vicious. She’s probably had it stored up since Like a Prayer and was just waiting till she carked it :D

Agreed
However it is SO vicious that I wonder if something else went down more recently.. maybe POOR JOAN offered some unsolicited opinions when the whole Rocco thing was happening a few years ago… hence BETRAYAL.. or maybe JOAN had something to do with Christopher (he talked about her favourably in his book)… anyway, pure speculation of course but yes the song is beyond the pale. And I LOVE IT!

I also want to look back and reconsider what Lucy O'brien had to say all those weeks ago when she had the world's first thoughts on Confesh 2.

So that interview above is a great way to listen to the album again as they're playing the songs and then talking about them. Totally recommending it and I'm only up to song 3 (the absolutely deluxe intoxication of Sins).

Can I also just thank Madonna and especially Stuart Price and whoever else had the nerve to stand up to her when she inevitably wanted to say “You came to me in a fuzzy dream” in Fragile, but ultimately decided not to.

Also, move over Agnes, I really cannot see anything else beating this as my album of the year.

Call it trance
Call it house

Call it love without words

Erotica X OG Confessions = Love Without Words
