Do AI videos give you the ick?

I've found of late that I have a rather guttural instinctive aversion to AI videos.

This seemingly innocuous one actually makes me vom a little in my mouth and I'm not entirely sure why:



It's more than just the uncanny valley feeling. Does anyone else have this reaction?

Well that one specifically is quite triggering from a trypophobia perspective as well as the uncanny valley aspect.

Actually it's probably triggering my trypophobia. Particularly when she turns the shade over and some of the cylinders have caps on them.

I find them irritating for the most part especially the ones that try to pass them off as actual humans like the one you posted above.

I genuinely want to rid myself of it. Normally a cluster of uniform holes don't present a problem but with this video they did.

Mostly. If it's humorous and pretty good (the Trump Summertime Sadness one lives rentfree in my grey matter) I can give it a grudging pass. Otherwise, if you couldn't be bothered to make or show me something real, I don't see why I should be impressed or give you any time.

I do think it should be the law for all AI content to be labeled as such. And the sooner our phones/browsers have an AI block-out filter the better.

@ that one though. As if internet arts and crafts wasn’t dubious enough as it is here’s AI trying to make sense of it…

I do like watching where it doesn’t line up though. The results are kinda fascinating.

I find myself getting really angry at the AI ads that always pop up when playing mobile games. Some of them quite clearly break several advertising laws, and I don't know how they get away with it - why are Apple and Google app stores such a wild west when it comes to ad governance? Why aren't they held to the same laws as other media?

The ones that really give me the ick are the "weight loss" patches - they show a morbidly obese woman putting on a patch and they show her again (not her, not even a real person) as a thin person. Usually it has a Boots sign behind them. Or they show fat Boots shop assistants putting on patches and turning into thin Boots shop assistants. Then the buy button has a Boots logo next to it.

I read recently that these weight loss scams made it to the Commons recently but I don't know if they realise how rampant the AI advertising is for them on mobile.

They run an ad for an air conditioner here on YouTube and it cracks me up because the “man” doing the ad had teeth that change shape every syllable. Sometimes there’s a gap, sometimes there isn’t (like Madonna)

The A.I. aesthetic, which is everywhere right now, is absolutely disgusting. So much garish shit in the market at the moment. Kill it with fire.

I block anyone who posts AI on any social media platform, watching any kind of AU content makes my feel physically uncomfortable

AI everything gives me the ick and I think people liking and resharing are idiotic. bad enough that it creeps into moopy threads every so often.

There is an ad for the Ivy doing the rounds online on socials and it’s just slop, there is no need for it

I've noticed it when buying clothes online. Increasing amounts of companies use A.I. models. It's quite sad.

I do use A.I. quite a bit. Especially for cooking.

I saw an Autotrader advert this morning that started with a woman giving birth (?!) and it was blatant AI. For this reason I didn't hang around to see what the context was but it really is rampant and AWFUL out there at the moment.

It is everywhere and is probably here to stay. Unless there are strict laws passed, I don’t think it’s going to stop and even then it will still be used in some capacity.

I appreciate that there's probably a lot of AI use in ads that I don't notice because it's used SPARINGLY but it is galling seeing major companies advertising on the tube or billboards with AI slop artwork. You've paid tens of thousands to book space for a campaign but you can't spare a few quid for a photographer and/or graphic designer?!

I think once their initial novelty wore off, AI videos just became annoying common dirt. I have to shoo them off my feed like I'm swatting house flies. It's exactly as we thought would happen. 99% became slop.

Are are they inherently immoral and anyone who produces/consumes them is automatically guilty by association? I honestly don't know.
