Sam Fender and Olivia Dean - Rein Me In

The Beatles notably absent

(although the 60s was a volatile time for the charts as artists were releasing songs very fast, and The Beatles often replaced themselves at the top)

Amusingly the OCC tinkering with the chart rules has actually created this

For many of those weeks, "Rein Me In" was actually outsold by "Man I Need".
But the latter is on ACR and the former isn't, despite "Rein Me In" first making the top 10 two months earlier.

It's also a reflection of what the charts have become in the general consciousness that this isn't more of a big story. In the days of Wet Wet Wet and Bryan Adams this would have been everywhere.

Currently being DUMPED in the midweeks by… Shakira’s World Cup song, sorry what?

Might have to settle for tying the record with Frankie. I think that Ultra Nate song looks set for #1 in a couple of weeks.

what Ultra Nate song? am I missing something good or has someone done a number on Free?

There's little over a hundred in it, apparently. I wouldn't count it out yet. Or it returning next week if it loses out this week.

never heard it :o not bad but generic and the vocal processing is ugly

It’s an absolute earworm. I actually can’t remember the last time a house track with a proper big diva vocal was big in the UK. It’s a nice change from the whispy female vocalists mumbling over a piano banger

Free Your Mind and Talk To You are both climbing up the charts so we could have three dance bangers in the top 10. How very 1999 :disco:

Having said that, it'll probably end up being Choosin' Texas as the next big number one. :zombie:

The idea of Shakira and Ultra Nate in the top 5 at the same time in 2026 is insane

But that novelty aside, the Ultra Nate track is not landing with me at all

Still, better them than the Sound of MAGA Ella Langley, which I do fear is sneaking #1 soon with the streaming platforms foisting their Americanisation on us

As I mentioned in the house thread, Barbara Tucker and Kathy Brown had singles out this month! And Ce Ce Peniston was featured on a track last week...

Des'ree sadly laments her lack of disco beats ruling her ineligible for 2026 RESURRECTION :(

Ultra Nate out of the top 5 in the latest update

If Ella Langley could please PISS OFF AND MAKE WAY

Online gays will be ever so confused, finding themselves BEREFT about a football song of all things

Now Fender just needs to see off the evil Ella Langley who is likely to be next week's challenger

The Worldy Cuppy is well over, it’s like Elizabethan England long ago that song was NEVER getting to No.1 also its sung by someone who is practically Joan Collins age.

Wasn't it Neil Tennant who asked 'What is Taylor Swift's Billie Jean?' - its that whole thing - the under pinning of life by the songs that are about at the time - the sorts of cultural cut through where a song reminds you of stuff in your life.

Put it on her gravestone.

20th week at #1

AND increased its figures thanks to the media coverage, so it's gifted another three weeks free from the terror of ACR :D

Maybe Christmas isn't unfeasible after all
