Where do you think this smash hit will chart in the UK and US?

I'm going optimistic that it will reach number one, become the UK's longest running number one, and beat the record of the existing dirge that is number one.

Did I mention number one?

It definitely won’t shart in the USA
I’m being optimistic and hoping for UK top 10 but I know it’s not likely

Surely Madonna and team are well aware a Kylie collaboration won't do any waves in the States outside the gay bubble. UK chart peak could be an entirely different beast, though. Two loyal fanbases (however overlapping significantly), also the British GP consensus of Kylie as pop institution and Confessions II marking Madonna's return to form. Streaming is the crucial factor here (well, duh). Warners need a proper single campaign if aiming at the best chart peak possible whenever the physicals get released in September. Could they sustain by drip feeding visualisers, remixes? They seem to be capable of, but who knows if that's what they had in mind when planning the duet. Anyways, as evidenced by Padam and XMAS the Kylie fanbase is unhinged when faced with the realistic option of a big hit. I believe XMAS cleared 10k physicals in the week battling for Christmas number one. Quessing Madonna's fanbase could manage similar numbers. 20k should be enough for a top 20 placement on physicals alone.

I really hope there’s a “less remixy” version for regular radio play. To be honest, and I’ll be slaughtered for this, I don’t particularly like a lot of Stuart’s remixes. He’s kinda sucked the lovely pop chords out of the melody and apparently the middle-eight is gone too? I’d far rather they’d just slapped Kylie’s vocals on the album version and just reswizzled it slightly. Or at least for a “radio edit” version and then have a more remixed version for the “oh the remix is better” brigade.

Much as I love it I think the fact that Love Sensation has been out for a month now and is not a new song will harm its chances.

I also get the impression this has been hobbled together somewhat last minute. I wonder if Kylie actually recorded her vocals on the day she appeared in the Beeb's Madonna special at Koko given that there's a recording studio there.

Oh I haven't heard it. My post was based on an assumption. I wasn't replying to Fanny's in any way.

I don’t really hold with Kylie getting sloppy seconds from Madonna, but hey, it makes Kylie very very happy so i’ll let it pass.

She lacks EGO and I think events of the last few years have just solidified that aspect about her. Ordinarily I'd feel aggrieved on her behalf but life is fucking short so why not? It doesn't take anything away from her.

This really. It already sounded more or less like a Kylie song, they didn't need to fuck around with it for the Kylie version.

You've seen (and heard) some of the shit collaborations she's done over the last few years? And you take issue with her doing a collaboration with fucking Madonna back at the peak of her powers?

it's almost certainly part of an upcoming remix album so none of the songs will be the same as their album versions.

To be honest I am surprised it took that long for some moaning - pardon me, DISSENTING VOICES - to emerge on Moopy towards this collaboration. I felt the response was almost too positive.

And I'm not referring to whether people prefer the remix or original version here (which is totally valid) but this narrative of the whole thing being somewhat 'shady' I'm not here for and I wish to disengage from and I have not been part of it since 2003.

If we're getting annoyed about shit takes, this nonsense reducing Padam Padam to a fanbase only hit when it was about JUST ABOUT THE BEST EXAMPLE OF AN ACTUAL CROSSOVER HIT FROM A NORMALLY JUST FANBASE SUCCESSFUL ARTIST EVER annoyed me.

I mean come on it - as Kylie herself said, it was a PADAMIC!!! :disco:

I HEAR it and I KNOW :disco:

And do we really think this is clearing 20k physicals when the album managed 50k with that many variants and the general public interest?

The loon-acy of all this is OFF THE SCALE. Kinda here for it. :disco:

In fact, Padam Padam remix feat. Madonna on the Love Sensation remix 7" B-side WHEN!

HANG ON - do the three copies on the store count as individual sales? If so, then all we need are about 6-7K homosexuals to buy this. Surely Kylie and Madonna have about 3K gays between each of them that can afford £10 to support this HISTORICAL MOMENT!!!

Failing that we need to get back to Plan B - surely there has to be a RICH GAY SOMEWHERE who happens to be a Kylie or Madonna LOON???

EDIT - problematic initial version

I think some of the fans are possibly disappointed that she doesn't appear on a new Madonna song (rather like Sabrina did) which is fine and I sort of understand the sentiment but if Kylie doesn't have a problem with it I don't see why anyone else should.

Well that's a bit ridiculous and we don't really know what happened behind the scenes. Bring Your Love was originally Madonna solo and Sabrina was added to it; it might have been a similar scenario with Kylie but the vinyls had already been pressed etc.
Why do people always have to jump to shady conclusions first rather than celebrating the fact that these two women have had mutual respect and admiration for years and this was an organic development from when they first performed together a couple of years ago rather than try to build narratives that don't exist.

Plus this is the new model of the music industry anyway. Madonna was on a (flop) Dua Lipa remix. Kylie has had people on her remixes etc. etc.
Some people need to grow up and realise this is not 1989 anymore. The world has moved on.

Actually how do we determine the success of a remix of a song that has already been released?
