Which artists DO have a song that lines up where their most beloved is their best? And which are the most flagrant examples of artists whose best work is by no means their most beloved?
 
I find it hard to push back against the view that Like A Prayer isn't Madonna's best, and that's the one that's going to be surging up the streaming charts when she eventually has one too many lines of Pritt Stick and carks it.

Beyoncé's best is interesting because it feels quite hard to identify a single standout when she has so many strong songs. I'd say Single Ladies isn't her most beloved compared to Crazy In Love though. Or even, curiously, Halo, which seems to be a real favourite among les basiques

I think my favourite Beyoncé these days is Drunk In Love or Break My Soul, but I entirely get why either of those would be controversial nominations for what's actually her best.

I know ABBA fans have thoughts about Dancing Queen when The Day Before You Came and the entirety of their disco era exists.
 
I can't say Dancing Queen is wrong for ABBA's most beloved and arguably finest work, but I certainly don't go to it as much as I do UNDER ATTACK :disco:

The public would opt for the tepid Just Give Me A Reason or hen-party hell Get The Party Started

I think Just Give Me A Reason probably would take the crown for my favourite Pink track, but mostly just because I don't care for the bulk of her work. The harmonies are LOVELY

A Design For Life is brilliant but it wouldn't make my Manics top 20.
