True - and I still feel that if they sent Noa Kirel - Unicorn level offer in 2027 (as much as i didn’t like it) then we’re cooked.

Still - in the above scenario they now don’t face the potentially Eurovision-ending disaster that is an Israeli-hosted contest.

You’ve got to wonder whether that also removes a bit of the appeal for KAN too? Even if the inevitable happened and we got the pathetic German broadcaster hosting reverentially on their behalf, it isn’t quite the same propaganda machine as one hosted on “home soil.”
 
I think the reintroduction of juries into the semis is because they were worried about the televote and televote manipulation in particular. If they have fewer reasons to be worried about that (e.g. - they are confident that the checks and balances they put in place last year to address this actually work) then it makes sense that the juries would be removed from the semis again. As you say, it makes for a better final.
 
100% televote semis this year would have given us Estonia, Montenegro and Switzerland instead of Sweden, Belgium and Czechia.

That new rule sucks for Ukraine, which is in an armed conflict only because of their neighbour's aggression. Under the new rules, they couldn't even have another country host it in their stead like in Liverpool.

It's just another shitty, self-serving decision they're making because they refused to make the difficult decision they should have made over Israel's participation.

Well no, you bound the vote up on that with a vote on a whole series of other changes around the contest and said no Israel - no changes. It wasn't exactly an honest vote.
 
4k fixed seats, guessing an overall 8k capacity for the show. Bigger than Liverpool (11k capacity brought down to 6k by the size of the stage). Tickets will be eyewatering still, I presume.

Also scream at the legions of cancellations that will have just happened for Sofia / the sheer price surge that'll be underway for Burgas. Hope there'll be a SEXY CHART illustrating in the next few days :disco:
 
Fuck the hoteliers of Sofia - they deserve this.

Burgas was pretty much fully booked a fortnight ago. If they are like Sofia, emails from Burgas will surge today citing “errors” in the original booking.

The new rule says the alternative host doesn’t *have to* host on the other country’s behalf, surely? Not that they are banned from doing so?
 
:D at how nothingy the Sofia concerns are compared to Burgas's. NOTHING TO DO with the mayor of Sofia being from the opposition party, I'm sure.

Sunny Beach as an alternative for accommodation for Burgas is wild. It's an hour by train! It's like if Liverpool had included Blackpool accommodation in its hosting application :D
 
It's alright for you Burgas if you have additional capacity, but I'm sure Gatwick doesn't have the spare slots going to put on more flights to get to you :angry:

Fuming at this. Need to be at a wedding the day after the final, so the plan was to do Sunday to Thursday but the lack of daily flights with Jet2/TUI (and easyJet not appearing to have any in May) is going to make this logistically more difficult.
 
Apparently they're already encouraging people to fly to Istanbul (a three and a half hour bus away from Burgas 💀)

Hopefully this will put an end to the conspiracy theories that Moroccanoil are the main reason Israel are still in (as opposed to it being literally the EBU's strongly held ideological position to not throw countries out unless they have so much pressure it's unviable for them not to do so).

Good riddance either way though. From recollection, they were definitely said to be one of the parties applying massive pressure during 2024 to have the Netherlands disqualified from the grand final during that whole situation.

I will say the geography is quite chic, but this is a city with a population smaller than Brighton. When was the last time it was held in such a small city?
