All inclusive Madonna CHART STATS, CERTS & STREAMS thread (1 Viewer)

I guess it’s a pain in the arse to have TIC, Celebration and Finally Enough Love all there, so which one should be pushed?

Good to have her (and Britney, who has also become a chart regular) in the chart though, given how many male led bloody GH’s take up so much of the chart.

#8 is fabulous and better than I expected, could there be some physical sales that go towards next week to given some hadn't been shipped?

Yah I think some of the later CD orders will be coming next week and the 7”s which should soften the 2nd week drop
Hopefully Radio 2 playlisting may help some streaming but we need dedicated playlists really from the fanbase(s)

I'd personally have preferred it had they gone the route of Abba The First 50 Years and attributed the streams back to Gold after the first week and seen TIC still pulling in all those sales.

But I can understand that would position her as a heritage act where TIC ends with songs over 30 years ago, and that really wouldn't serve her well.

Do we know that not all CD singles have shipped?

Well I FINK some fans were not sure about what was happening this week so they held off on ordering CDs and downloading EPs
But once it all became clear they started buying and downloading so I’m sure some will not have counted
Therefore i think that with the 7”s and playlisting we may be looking at a second week in the top 40 next week

REMEMBER ladies I got it right with my first week prediction so don’t be jumping down my throat (unless it’s a nice :filth:)

Spotify playlisting? Because I don't see radio playlisting making any significant difference.

Having the 1st song on the release as the six minute one also won’t help, as minimal as that impact may be.

But it doesn’t really matter. They’ve grabbed a top ten and that’s all the chart books really care about.

All time daily streams peak for 4 Minutes

It won’t be long now. Her Spotify audience has shifted massively in the last 12 months. And I think Spotify in general is taking her a lot more seriously with playlisting etc

Now, if only we can get them to acknowledge TIC as the important piece of musical history that it is…

Human Nature getting its revival is quite :o I think it’s a TikTok thing?

Totally here for any songs doing that, but I’d prefer Bedtime Story myself.

Music also not being there is still a bit odd. It’s not my fave, but it was a transatlantic number one and its theme is surely one you’d expect to be an obvious track that would be up there with the rest of the big hitters.

Pretty much all her hits between Vogue and Hung Up are paid dust on streaming relative to how big they were. Frozen seems to be a bit of an exception partly attributable to the weird remix.

Have we seen that some limited combining has happened on Spotify? Holiday, Bring Your Love and Express Yourself at least have all seen boosts in their totals as a result.

I'm not sure if it's the exact same tracks which have been merged, but I doubt any of them are quite as ridiculous as Chiquitita for Abba which appears to have had the Spanish version merged with the English one, although other Spanish versions are still listed separately. Although even more confusingly, kworb links to a random Spanish various artists compilation rather than Oro or Gracias Por La Musica. And on that Spanish compilation, it's the English version

And they also appear to have duplicated streams somehow, as it now appears as their #7 and #10 (and would top a billion to be their #3 combined). Hopefully it will be resolved.

Also, The Love Sensation Kylie remixes both feature in Kylie's top 10 - but nowhere to be seen in Madonnas. I didn't realise Kylie's daily streams were THAT much less than Madges??

Madge gets dramatically more - she's on 24m vs Kylie's 4.5m

Mostly because Kylie didn't truly break internationally in the way Madonna did. The US account for so much of the Spotify market. I imagine it's a fairer fight if you isolated just to the UK or Australia.

Kylie's streams are significantly lower at the moment. Difficult to confirm today as this combining/duplicating business has messed the stats up, but I believe that Madonna is typically on about 9m daily, and Kylie 2m.

And Madonna's top ten isn't routinely hugely dominated by one track, either.

So interesting - I did assume that because Kylie had her CGYOOMH and has been seen at least recently as a bit more current, that they would be more even,

Oh actually that 24m is skewed by Kworb buggering up and claiming Express Yourself did 8m yesterday alone. If only!

It also thinks Kylie's In My Arms did 1.5m

Lolly's number is more realistic

it doesn't necessarily mean that... Madonna just released a record with active singles from it above the LS remixes, as well as her enduring classics. Kylie is between eras and has nothing new in her daily streams so it'll be easier for the remixes to break in.

just saw others already replied. SORRY! did you know Kylie used to be on a soapie down under? :)

On her streams, it surprises me that Ray of Light and The Power of Goodbye have basically the same number on Spotify (78m apiece).

Adore both, but Ray of Light always felt to me like much more of a crossover hit compared to Power of Goodbye.

The other two singles predictably further behind. 28m for Nothing Really Matters and 17m for Drowned World/Substitute For Love.

it’s always confused me why NRM didn’t catch on as well because it’s probably the most “pop” sounding song on the album

I’m pretty sure this happened a while ago - unless they’ve now applied it to more (it wasn’t all her singles that it happened to at the time)

It does make her counts look healthier across the various albums. But I think there are still some, like radio edits vs the full 12” mixes, are counted separately because of the vast length difference, which is the same as other artists. But there was no reason why so many songs had so many versions with independent tallies. Some of them were just different edits of the exact same version.

That’s probably why hun
In 1998 it was probably deemed a bit “basic” by her standards given that she had just given us the other ROL singles
Your faves could never etc etc

They must have done it to more yesterday, and it seems to be across a lot of acts.

I agree that it was crazy (certainly in Madonna's case, for example) that some tracks were listed separately when it was essentially the same song.

But I do draw the line at combining foreign language versions of the same songs, personally. But then if you ARE going to do it, at least be consistent!

Oh I’m glad that this seems to be across the board then. I was thinking that they would just allow the artists / labels an over writing option on a case by case but it looks like they’ve applied something more widespread and permanent. Good!

Yeah they had a big clean up to combine versions that are essentially the same - I guess just on different releases and of the same length etc? Actual radio edits etc haven’t that are different haven’t been.

Certainly much better overall when browsing kworb anyway.

Nothing Really Matters didn’t catch on because it had a lack of airplay after the “underperformance” of The Power of Goodbye. There was also some controversy in the US about its physical release coming way too late as well, but I forget exactly what…it was something to do with the CD single not being released, which is what had held The Power of Goodbye back, ultimately.

I may be talking bollocks but I remember Billboard Hot 100 changing chart metrics when The Power Of Goodbye was about to enter the top 10. It fell 11-29 in the week new rules were applied, which felt quite brutal. Perhaps radio hesitated playlisting its follow up after such a drastic drop or Warner just expected the Grammy wins hype carrying the single campaign on its own.

It’s true
Radio only songs were allowed to chart around the time POG was peaking
I remember that week
The remixes didn’t help either

Freedom comes
Freeeomcomes

I think I remain more upset about POG peaking at 12 in the USA than Love Profusion being denied uk top 10 by the cheeky girls
