what exactly is the enduring appeal of Spider-man? he's the only superhero who never flops or even close despite having now had 9 films (11 including animated) in 25 years.
He’s one of the most popular comic book characters of all time behind only Batman and Superman. He’s one of the few characters that manages to sell in numerous mediums (comics, merch, games, movies, etc). He’s the “everyday man” so it makes him more relatable than a billionaire or an alien. People LOVE a New York setting.

$927m in one weekend!

Just seen it. It’s perfectly watchable. Starts out really well because I just like the characters, but it flays off in the last hour. Could have done with some major trimming.

Also not enough Ned.

BRAND NEW DAY SHAG RANK

1. Metzger
2. The Punisher
3. Peter Parker
4. The Hulk when he's kind of a man still
5. That guy who talks to Spidey on the street but it's really the MYSTERY ANTAGONIST
6. Bruce Banner
------------
61. Ned

A quick google tells me they're mostly derivative versions of the male ones, but SCREAM looks fun

Go to horny jail.

I found this so drab. Loved the twist of who the 'baddie' was but there was nothing of note or interest elsewhere for me. And it looked underwhelming. Ugly sets and photography on the whole.

I didn't really rate Sadie Sink as Jean Grey but I appreciate she's just getting started so maybe she'll slay in future.

I would say it had the right amount of Ned tbh.

Why does CGI hulk still look so shit. Just do some forced perspective etc.

Saw this earlier. I thought it was JUST OK. Great performances all round and I just loved seeing him swing around NYC again. I loved how they shot that stuff. I also loved that it was his classic Spidey suit and not some ridiculous overly-tech suit. I still hate the constant tech voice in the suit though. The story itself was a bit ponderous and felt at times more like a setup for the X-Men. My main gripe is with the dull action sequences. They just do nothing for me and aren't remotely thrilling or clever. I can't help but feel these movies are repeating themselves endlessly now.

I'm gobsmacked that this is well over $2bn at the box office already.

By the way, is it ever explained how Peter has any money? No doubt it was in another(or this?) movie, but I'm not that much of a fan to remember.

They don’t really say in this universe. He’s usually taking pictures for The Daily Bugle but they slipped over that plot for this series of films.

It’s very much a transition movie to get him set up for Secret Wars and get the X-Men going in this new universe.

In my mind: Tony Stark died and left him all his money; Happy knows but doesn't GAF, while Pepper is fuming every time she remembers but can't cut him off.

But then why does he act poor? I mean girl that apartment was shit. If the world forgot you at least get a cute pad to bring trade back to while MJ isn’t in the picture.
