Not sure where I stand on separating the art from the artist but it’s roughly The Smiths? Fine. Michael Jackson. NO. Roisin is somewhere in the middle.

With all due respect (none) would most people putting together a playlist for a gay bar know who the woman shinging it back on a Moloko single is?
 
SHING IT BACK was always hateful and BASIC even before she became grossly evil

I completely agree the general public likely won't recognise who performs that song, and the names Moloko or Roisin will draw baffled looks.

But anyone in the music profession (DJs included) or the LGBQT+ community should know better. They shouldn't be playing Roisin any more than they would a DaBaby or a Beenie Man.

DJs at a gay event might be more likely to know who she is because of a) shing it back b) terfdom, but I think it's important to remember that she has never been particularly famous or successful.

She's got nothing else to do. No-one will work with her because she has completely alienated her own audience and her own level of collaborators and labels. Becoming a full time TERF was her only career option.

It's what irks me the most about HER in particular, I think, and that's a fucking long list. Who the fuck are you to tell me about the LGBTQ+ community and what it should look like? SHIT OFF!
 
Also, I don't have any Roisin Murphy on my Apple Music, but Sophie Ellis Bextor's version of Off and On came up on my gym playlist yesterday morning for the first time in an age. SEB claims (and I believe her entirely) to be a staunch trans ally, and I really would like to see a "money where your mouth is" moment of removing this, but seeing she still follows RM on Instagram, it seems unlikely.
 
I am absolutely GASPING for her to try and release some music. Boy George's AI-generated pro-Netanyahu anthem was taken down by Bandcamp so I'm keen to see how she gets on with no producers and a single deluded, toxic opinion in her mouth.
 
I wonder why she hasn't done any festival gigs this year? I can't imagine mainstream festivals have any issues booking her despite her views.
 
To be fair I can't imagine Roisin's descent to evil has been news at all beyond the British shores to have reached the game developers

This is her one source of income, licensing. I can't see Rockstar caving in; their core audience couldn't give a shit, GTA6 could be soundtracked by Lostprophets and Gary Glitter and it wouldn't change a thing.
 
This thread genuinely makes me so sad because it hasn't been easy blocking her on my Spotify and avoiding her at all costs; sometimes I start singing You Know Me Better or Let Me Know and I go like damn this stupid bitch was SO GOOD.

One time the gym playlist played Dear Miami, and one friend used Narcissus on an Instagram story recently 💀 Now this would be the time everyone starts their own Top 10 list, but we're talking about her, so, NO.
