Radio 2 CHAT

Came into the thread to report on some major Moopy crossover - which was the seemingly random inclusion of RUSTIE LEE as a guest on Rylan’s show today.

The more I find out Rylan, the most it becomes apparent that he would 100% would have been on here during Moopy’s early days getting casually bullied by Ag if he’d been a bit more of a shut in teenager.
It seems entirely possible.

Mr Ag vaguely knew him back in the day and said he was a cunt.

I heard this for the very first time last week - what the actual fuck? I did get some enjoyment out of imagining Sara Cox earnestly nodding along between parps of her clown horn.

:D

It (Thought for the Day) is just SO OUT OF PLACE and NOT FUCKING NEEDED but I fear if it's survived this changing of the breakfast guard then we're stuck with it long term.

Also whenever I've slagged it off before Moopy has been surprisingly tolerant of it, so perhaps across the board it's not as hated as much AS IT SHOULD BE.

Also thank goodness that Radio 2 in the Park is nearly here. The incessant plugging of it is fully deranged.

I listen to a lot less Radio 2 than I used to but Mark Goodier has managed to squeeze a reference to 2 in the Park in every Pick of the Pops he’s done since about Easter, I think. Or at least it feels like it.

It’s very deliberate - I genuinely wouldn’t be surprised if they are picking charts that include a top 20 hit from a Radio 2 In The Park artist in order to mention it. They certainly have been playing songs by and featuring those artists a lot more in the lead up, which is presumably part of the deal in terms of them agreeing to appear.

I do wonder if they are struggling to shift tickets this year. Stirling is a weird location to pick. I know they want to do their bit across the nations but Stirling in particular is a bit of a pain in the arse to get to compared to previous locations and the risk of the weather being cold and shite is much higher.

You're probably right - although I just listened to 1980 from a couple of weeks ago and there was apparently no links to Radio 2 In The Park. But they did play Funkin' For Jamaica by Tom Browne, which gave Goodier the chance to say "When that came out, people thought the vocals sounded like Chaka Khan, even Chaka herself thought it sounded like her...and the real Chaka is headlining Radio 2 in the Park..." :square:
